Monitor is Black and the Only Visible is the Mouse Pointer

This is the second computer problem that I encountered on my work this work. But still, this is not a new type of error. It does happen before.

I just finished troubleshooting a computer that seems to be booting when after an hour a co-employee of mine called me about this monitor that has gone black and the only visible is the mouser pointer.

I tried to view his computer to his computer remotely and I do see that his computer's monitor has gone black and the only visible in his monitor the mouse pointer.

The culprit and the fix

If you are going to experience this problem in the future it is possibly caused by a faulty video driver. Most of the time when this happens it will not return to normal.

You have to force restart your computer by either pressing the reset button on the CPU or unplug the power cable of the CPU from its power source and then power it on again.

Preventing it to happen again

To prevent it from happening again you need to update the driver software of your video driver by downloading the latest driver of your video card.
