Winter 2019 Mid-season List (2/3)
Heya there fellas! Am back for the mean time since the problem I had last week already got resolved, now all I had to do is to move my things and I will be back on my regular track, not that I missed a week though but I would be able to assure now that I would be more certain on the timing of my posts lol.
Well that’s enough catching up and let’s proceed to the article proper now!
In case you missed the first part you can check it out here.
5. Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland)
Genres: Sci-Fi, Mystery, Horror, Shounen
Studio: CloverWorks
If Kaguya-sama: Love is War is what Death Note would have been had a romance tag been added to its genre, then this show is what Death Note would have been had they starred minors as the series’ lead. The show’s initial hook really caught me off guard, though I have an inkling of what the show is about I really never dug deep too much and got my self spoiled so I was somehow rewarded for my patience, but I felt that at some point after the first big reveal, things went a bit bad, I mean the show is trying to demonstrate a battle of wits but my goodness why are these kids so openly talking about their greatest discovery that could spell their doom like it is no one else’s business (reminds me of that Persona 5 adaptation where they talk in public that they are the “mysterious” Phantom Thieves which is supposed to be their greatest secret) and another thing is how naive the main character is, good thing that they have Ray in there to make things more rational and even out the too optimistic approach that Emma and Norman are trying cook. Despite those criticism though, I could say that this show is one of the better ones airing now and people who have read the source material are buzzing about how things will get even better later on so there’s still things to look forward to that may improve my current opinion regarding this one.
6. Kakegurui xx
Genres: Game, Mystery, Psychological, Drama, School, Shounen
Studio: MAPPA
It is the second season of “Yumeko is getting off by gambling (again) while her opponent displays the ugliest face possible in anime history while being reduced to sobbing mess because their own plan backfired and now they can’t think of any way to reverse the situation so they get a free spit shower while they cower in fear”. That is a long ass title, no? Well of course it is because I made that one up, not like I fooled anyone though but that is how I would describe this spit fest in a phrase.
This is the second season so if you are watching this series then you’ve already seen hell once so why not make it twice? Doesn’t make that much a difference so just accept the fact that you enjoy seeing these gambling addicts being gay towards each other while sporting those ridiculous animated face that will scare the shit out of anyone if you are unfortunate enough to come across one in reality.
I just love how studio MAPPA can make the faces of these beautiful maidens into absolute nightmare fuel materials in a blink of an eye. That won’t stop people from claiming them as waifus though because they are total lookers when they are not into gambling frenzy mode, especially Yumeko, Mary and Ririka. As for Ryouta you can just ignore the guy’s existence and it would hardly make any difference.
7. Domestic no Kanojo (Domestic Girlfriend)
Genres: Drama, Romance, School, Shounen
Studio: Diomedea
Our boy did the deed with a stranger he met in a mixer, but here’s the catch she is going to be his step-sister… meh that is not even surprising in anime anymore. Well how about we spice things up by making our boy infatuated with his teacher and that teacher of his is the older sister of the girl he just had an affair with? Wait, what? Well to put it simply our boy will be living together with the girl he is in love with and the girl he shared his first time with, yep sounds good to me, count me in!
Kidding aside, this is not a genre I really enjoy, I would actually love to watch easy going harem and ecchi shows because more often than not they are funny and entertaining enough, rather than watch drama series like this one that are too gloomy and heavy for my taste but there are times that I just take a blind march forward and find myself enjoying before I know it, I actually only heard of this from a friend during college as a manga so when I saw that it got adapted I decided to give it a shot and here I am writing about it now lol. Just a reminder though that this one is not a show for all ages and for all type of audience (well Kakegurui is questionable for that matter too) so I can’t really promote it that much, I might lose my nonexistent credibility after all.
8. Date A Live III
Genres: Sci-Fi, Harem, Comedy, Romance, Mecha, School
Studio: J.C. Staff
Do you know what J.C. Staff likes doing? That is making sequels of series that we thought we would never see again like the Toaru series and now this one, Date A Live, thanks guys! However do you know what J.C. Staff likes doing more than that? That is making sequels of series that we wished we never really had to see…
Beggars can’t be choosers as the saying goes and I will just have to settle for what we are served, well it is not really that bad but definitely leaves a lot to be desired but as long as there are waifus in there who cares if they look derpy from time to time and I am just biding my time for the return of the Nightmare, this is just a small price to pay for that moment and I actually still get a good laugh out of it so it is still recommendable to say the least, especially if you have already seen the previous installations.
Guess that's it for this week's list, next time will be the final list and after that I will probably do the OP/ ED list again. Nothing much to say at this point so I will be ending it here for today and let's see again next time.
Ciao~

the promised neverland was quite unexpected for me. it came out of nowhere and it's simply amazing. i try to keep myself from reading the manga! :P
Sad that it is getting overshadowed by bigger titles airing alongside it like shield bro, mob psycho, kaguya-sama that gets a lot of buzz in social media, must be hard not having a character that draws attention towards it but on the bright side it boasts a better and more respectable fan base lol
