Steem greetings all the way from the motherland-Cameroon to fellowSteemitians. It is another interesting topic for us to share ideas to better understand the concept of Dowries in different countries and also to share our thoughts on whether the practice should be considered dehumanizing or be maintained in our society.

Nowadays, it is a common phenomenon for families to demand a token or material gift from either the groom's family or the bride's family depending on our cultural values.

In some traditional setups, it is the bride’s family that pays the bride price to the groom while in other traditional setups, it is the groom that pays the bride price to the bride’s family.

Today, many are advocating for Dowries to be abolished because it promotes gender inequality. Women are often downtrodden and equated to property once a token is paid as dowry.

For this contest, the following will be used as guiding questions to better assess your understanding of the concept.

Some Guiding Questions.

• Should Dowry be considered a Social Evil? Explain
• What should be considered a solution to Dowries? Expatiate.
