[Discussion Post] What historical monuments do you like?

in #history4 years ago (edited)

100 percent of the liquid rewards for this post will go towards rewarding engaging and relevant comments. . .

Hello everyone! First of all, I am sorry that this discussion post is so late. I have had a bit of a busy week because of some stuff occurring for college. Going forward, I will not be on Steem as much because of preparing for college/attending college. Today my family and I watched a documentary about Stone Henge, and how it was a neolithic monument for the burial of significant members of the early society. That gave me the idea to ask:

What historical monuments do you like?

They can be something you've visited, or something you want to visit. I hope that this prompt will help gauge all of the different cultures here on Steem. One of my favorite parts of these posts is learning about each of the individual cultures! Leave a comment about your favorite monuments (and maybe some public domain photos. . .) for a share of this post's liquid rewards!

Discuss away!

Thank you to these users for sponsoring these discussion posts!

Additional Information About My Use of Bidbot(s)

In addition to rewards from sponsors' upvotes, I am also committing to using bidbots to try to increase the amount of liquid rewards of these discussion posts so that there is more stake for rewarding engaging discussions. I know that the use of bidbots has been looked down upon, but I think an exception can be made when trying to enhance the community through rewarding positive discussion.

I am Faith Okoro from Abia State, Nigeria. Before i got admission to high institution, i lived with my uncle at Abuja, Nigeria.
The historical monument i had always admired then is called Zuma Rock.
Zuma Rock is located along Gwagwalada going towards Suleja Niger State, Nigeria.
The face of this Zuma Rock is usually scary. It has a human like face. It has contours of eyes, nose and mouth. You might not see it very well from this picture. But if you view it physically, you will see the human like face, with well pronounced eyes, nose and mouth. It is a strange and unique rock indeed.
According to history, nobody has ever climbed the rock and people that tries doesn't succeed carrying out their missions there.
That spot where it is located is always an accident spot. There is no month that lives are not lost at that spot, and according to the superstutitious believe of the people around there, they said it is the spirits living inside the rock that causes such accidents and loss of lives.
Zuma Rock is really a strange and a unique rock.

The first time i saw Zuma Rock i was so surprised, i thought my eyes was playing pranks on me. I asked my uncle, can you see the eyes, nose and mouth of a human being in this rock, he said it had always been like that. It looked so strange.

You need to have a tour around Abuja Nigeria, then visit Zuma Rock and confirm for yourself.
We call it the rock with human face.

This is my entry.

Another great discussion. I make this post while a talk we my parents about this.

For my mother her favorite historical monuments is The Christ the Redeemer or Cristo del Corcovado is a huge statue of Jesus of Nazareth with open arms showing the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For my dad are the pyramids, whatever are; egyptians, aztecs or maya. And for me are a couples monuments: Castle Neuschwanstein it stands on a gorge in the Bavarian Alps, very close to Füssen, in the federal state of Bavaria (Germany). Its construction was ordered by Louis II of Bavaria "the mad king" in 1866. It is the most photographed building in Germany and one of the most visited. Palace of Versailles (which I knew from the Rise of Nation game) and the Pantheon of Athens, which I had to do in primary make a model of him.

I have actually been to Neuschwanstein. It is really cool!

Epic!! One of my goals is to get to know those monuments! Live that unique experience!

I'm from the Eastern part of Nigeria, particularly Imo State and my favorite monument is the Akachi monument

Akachi can be translated in English to mean Hand of God.

It was built by the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, among other statues and building built during his regime.

During the inception of that monument there were mixed feelings about it but them it serves as a tourist attraction in my state, Imo State, Nigeria, West Africa.

Here's a picture of the Akachi monument

images (18).jpeg
Akachi tower, 40 ft tall

Although in recent times there claims of destroying the building by Governor Emeka Ihedioha but was denied according to news reports.

Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to expose my state's monument

I adore historical sites, one of my goals is to be able to visit many historical sites in my country and in other countries.
But there is a place that since he was a child he wanted to visit and even when he visited the state where he is for work reasons, even when he does not visit and I have it pending.
That place is the Carabobo park, in that place the last battle that sealed the independence of Venezuela my country was fought.
I have the feeling and I am sure that it is so, that being there awakens ancient emotions, it was there that the patriots shed their blood, where they had their lives. Some energy must awaken being in that place, I am one of those who believes in spiritual energies and normally in those places where events like that occurred, they are left with an enigmatic environment.
So I hope that at the time of visiting it is in the afternoon.
The place is a set of monuments that represent the greatness of what was lived there.
Here I send you some images of that field that I want to visit, waiting for the sea of your liking.

Peopels says Tajmahal is symbol of Love whih is also historical monument but for me Ram Setu is symbol of love. God Rama created this setu(Bridge) between India and Lanka(Now time it known as Shri Lanka).
Lord Rama and his Vanar Sena build this setu by writing Ram on rocks and then throw it into sea. the rock's writing Ram name on them are floating oon water and this make me more curious how thos rock float on water by writing Ram name on them.

Hello friends!!
I would like to visit the sculpture park in Oslo-Norway, their sculptures are amazing, I would like to be able to observe each sculpture up close and in detail, I feel that each one has a lot to tell.
The human body is a work of art, what we do and pose is worth admiring and immortalizing.
Despite the fact that they are naked bodies, they only transmit freedom, family love and love of couples without being vulgar, peace and a lot of tranquility.
