What do Sports teach us?

in The World of Sports4 months ago

Hello, fellow Sports Enthusiasts,

This week I read about three interesting news.

  • "The 2024 Ballon d'Or nomination is out and since 2007 it's is without Messi and Ronaldo for the first time."
  • "2024 tennis season will be the first year since 2002 without a Slam title for the Big Three - Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer. And for the first time since 2002, all three are out from the US Open before Round 16."
  • "LeBron James" is approaching 50,000 career points.

So, the first thing that came to mind is, is this the end of an era in Footall and Teniis? Federer is already retired and others are almost in the last few years of their career. Then my perspective changed. This is unbelievable dominance from these guys. Is it even possible? Many players struggle to play for around two decades in their careers. ut these guys! they also had some ups and downs, but they have kept pushing themselves to the top and kept their consistency for a long time.

We all know the records and achievements of these players, so I don't go into details, but a few about their dominance in their respective sports.

In the past 17 years, Ronaldo and Messi have been nominated for all the Ballon d'Or and won it 13 times together. Only Kaka, Luka Modrić, and Karim Benzema could win it. Since 2002, Djokovic(24), Rafael Nadal(22), and Roger Federer(20) have won 66 slams combined. LeBron James holds the most combined points record, with a Double-Digit Scoring Streak in 1,150 consecutive games, etc.

So, what do sports teach us most? The importance of consistency. The consistency is the foundation of success. These players may have natural talent, but they have worked their ass off to come to the top level. Then they have to work even harder to stay within those standards. Mainly they have cared highly about their physical and mental health. God knows how much energy and mental toughness is needed for an athlete. Isn't it so damn important for us in real life as well? As Lord Buddha said health is the greatest gift.

I recently watched an interview with Novak. The interviewer asked you seemed so cool in the field. How do you manage it? What he said is once in a while it is just like fire rain inside, it's not easy to always be cool. but the thing is he can recover from that immediately Isn't that what we need in real life?

Then comes the discipline. It doesn't mean respecting elders and obeying traffic lights and so on. but be humble and consistent in doing what you make great. What if Ronaldo had stopped practicing, dedicating, and working hard once he reached the top? He had two choices, just enjoy life once he got the fame and money, and just be a champion, or work even harder and get the Legendary tag. And remember he is enjoying life to the fullest while maintaining his routine. So, this involves continuous learning, evolving with the times, making smart decisions adapting to the situations!

Then what? The Rivalry Effect. Even in real life we seem competitors in an exam or any field. Are they just rivals? I don't think so. A healthy and strong rivalry can help both to achieve greater heights. A small competition can help to ring out the best and force each other to work even harder and be smart. Think about the above players in, they may or may not be friends. but they indeed have helped each other.

Until the next time! Enjoy!

Thank you.
Best Regards!
