Dear Diary,

Saturday was a great day for me and my kids, we had an interesting experience. Well, during the week My kid's teacher showed concern about me taking my second boy for an Eye check-up, she observed that he's been straining his eyes while copying notes from the board. I had a scheduled appointment at the eye clinic near my residency, I must admit I was a bit nervous about how the appointment and the whole process would go. But guess what it turned out to be an informative and exciting experience!

delicious 😋 breakfast

As usual I woke up early, I intended to do some laundry but I didn't because of poor weather conditions, yeah it was drizzling. I prepared a delicious breakfast for us, our favorite bean cake, Bread, and Pap. After breakfast I wrote my SR report and then watched some short dramas on the Drama box "One Fateful Night With My Boss" It was quite interesting! You know I love this short series of movies than long seasonal ones.

How time runs faster nowadays, it was already noon so I got the kids ready for an appointment, tried and put my little princess to sleep then we set off, after taking our lunch. Upon arriving, we were received by a beautiful fair, and friendly nurse, who gave us a seat in a waiting room. I kept myself busy by engaging the kids with fun activities on the phone to help them relax.

Our names were called before long, and we were asked to follow the nurse to the examination room, my young ones were a little hesitant, so I held their hands and assured them that it wouldn't be painful. In the examination room, the nurse inspected the kids’ eyes carefully, using a compress machine, she also examined mine before she took the results to the optician. The Doctor called us in and asked us questions such as if we could see well in the dark, if our eyes hurt, or if we had difficulty seeing objects from a distance.

At the fitting room, the doctor tested our eyes by asking us to read out some letters in different font sizes from a distance while covering one of our eyes. I could see all while my kids missed some. In the end, the Doctor demanded further examination which I paid 12 thousand naira for it. I didn't do this test because mine was cleared so only my kids do it. After the second examination we proceeded to the fitting room again where my kids were introduced to different styles of glasses to choose from, and the optician tested them in their eyes.

The examination was thorough and gentle, and the ambiance was welcoming, which made the kids comfortable throughout the process. The optician explained his findings to me, and I was glad to hear that the kids had no severe eye issues, apart from Astigmatism a mild eye defect, and needed corrective glasses, which wasn’t a big issue for me.

He told me that with the examination they would produce corrective glasses for them according to their prescription, each of their glasses with shade cost 40,000 thousand nairas (80,000 thousand Naira for the two), I demanded a blue cut glass, since I normally spend a lot of hours on screen that cost me 55,000 Naira.

After the examinations, we moved to the reception hall where we could choose different frames for our glasses, the prices ranged from 15k to 250k. The options were many and My kids found it fun to pick their preferred frames. They even chose mine, which was 35k haha. Finally, we chose our Frames and I paid for everything both the glasses and frames and it cost me 200k.

We didn't get the glasses immediately because they have to produce them according to our eyes, the optician told me that the kids would use the glasses for a year before I would bring them back for check, and they told me that I would be informed about the date to come and pick up the glasses.

I left the eye clinic feeling relieved and with a good feeling knowing that the kids’ eyes were okay, and we will have new stylish glasses that we liked. I couldn’t help but reflect on the professionalism and the kindness of the staff at the clinic, regardless of my kids’ young age, They kept all of us on our toes but they weren't angry. It was an excellent learning experience for both me and the kids.

In all, it was a wonderful day, and I am grateful for the opportunity to ensure the health of my children’s eyes and the excellent service we received at Sotoria Eye Clinic.
