Feature Request: Share a Link
Not everyone styles themselves as a content creator. So I think a "Share a Link" button would be a great addition to Steemit.
The way I envision this working is basically the same as "Submit a Story" but uses a simplified form. The form would accept a title, URL, and categories.
But the key here is, it does not pay author rewards, only curation and reputation. Since it doesn't take much skill to share interesting links, it should only pay if there's curation value.
The reason I think this is an important feature is because not everyone on Steemit is a content creator. A nice side-effect is that the original content creator gets attention, perhaps even referrer traffic from Steemit. Referrer traffic will appear in the original content creator's access logs, which will promote the platform.
Here are a few example of what I'm talking about, only instead of just sharing the link, I manually imported content into the post, added links to the original article, and selected 'Decline Payout':
- You Won’t Be Able To Recognize These Modern Animals Drawn Like Dinosaurs
- Naps as a kid vs. naps as an adult
Then again, perhaps the above approach is just the right way to do it. But I think it'd be quicker to just paste a link.
If this feature was implemented, I envision that under the hood the shared link might also populate the body of the post with some kind of preview so it gets thumbnails and perhaps video embeds.
If you haven't already noticed, yes this is basically a Reddit feature I'd like to see formally implemented on Steemit.
I really am enthusiastic about this feature. This way we can separate link shares from actual content. If you want a facebook like wall, you can go to the link share page. If you want original content, just visit the trending, new or active page.
This not only promotes not having to go through posts just to find a simple link or video under it. But it might do a lot of link sharing cleanup. Resteemed!
How about a limited-character option where you can leave a couple of sentences about the link or why you're sharing it? I think that would be useful and appreciated by the sharer and reader alike.
Yeah its much better, at least you we can share our views on what we are sharing with.
I'd like to post a link that gets a thumbnail.

I think the link is more important than what I could add to it.
This feature would include more folks from twitter.
And water down the content, some what.
Why not implement share just like FaceBook and a zillion others. (for all I know Reddit is the same, never been there
I'd suppose that's where Facebook get's MOST of it's content. I know I surf and send my 'wall' a ton of stuff. People see it, then comment.
Ve Haf ze Tek nology...and ve can do BETTER!
Interesting post. thanks for sharing
