"Is there prejudice against female drivers in your country?"

in Boylikegirl Club16 days ago

Finally, friends I am here to contribute to the contest which asks if, there is prejudice against female drivers in your country, I got inspired by @wakeupkitty.pal and @weisser-rabe

I am a Nigerian and one of the things that I like about my is how everyone is free to take part in whatever he or she feels can do better. However, when it comes to driving there is little discrimination between male and female drivers in such a way that passengers would prefer to pay and enter a motor that is driven and controlled by a male driver than entering free into a motor that is driven by a female.

The discrimination or female drivers in the country has less to refusal of patronizing female drivers in the country even in a family a child would prefer his or her father or a male driver to drive him or her to school than allowing his or her mother or sister to drive he or she to the school. In Nigeria people see female drivers as learners, and as people who lack driving skills, which to some extent I can say is true because I have entered a car that was driven by a female several times, and the same car that is driven by a male.

Female drivers find it difficult to reverse a car back or handle the steering of a car. They drive as someone who is still learning how to drive a car. Like my elder sister whose husband bought her a car, she has been learning how to drive the car for more than a year now. Although, she does take the car to the market, church, and other places in the town, as a driver who is in a hurry to go somewhere, don't pray to meet her in a place where there is traffic or a place that has a bad road, because she will eventually delay you on the road with her pattern or driving as she is usually scare of riding speeding or overtaking other vehicles.

All these and many more which are seen among female drivers in Nigeria are the reasons why there is prejudice against female drivers in Nigeria as people believe female drivers can cause holdups, traffic, and accidents on the road. However, this wouldn't stop me from owning a car one day.

It's true that people pass judgement on female drivers in Nigeria because they feel they aren't good drivers. Well, I've met excellent female drivers that drive better than men.

You see women who drive in Lagos state? They are good, and I give them credence for that. Having to drive successfully in such a crowded place without hitting on people's cars everyday, I mean they are good.

Like I said, those feelings are not completely true. Nice post, best wishes to you dear.

In the city they for sure learn more. You made a good point.

Thank you for the agreement.

I haven't been to Lagos State before, but I heard it is a place where women do most of the things than men which is why it is said that what a man can do, a woman can do it more better. Thank you for supporting my post.

It's my pleasure!

I think that if women receive decent driving lessons like with us there's no problem driving in reverse. Driving takes time. It's normal with us to take lessons once a week for a year and most do not pass the first state examn (first theory next driving) and men are no ex exeption.

Super you joined.
