Remember Back When People Weren't so Uptight:

Remember the days when 'Seinfeld' was funny and not offensive? Remember when you could just laugh at the absurdity of our culture without being branded as a disparaging catchphrase of the moment? Remember when self-righteous children didn't have carte-blanche to dictate what is and is not socially acceptable behavior, without having to worry about being punished under penalty of law? Those were the days...

Remember when people weren't so damned uptight? #MeToo ... Those were great times! The 70's, 80's, and 90's were pretty fucking rad. They were great because we were the ones who challenged the status quo. We were the ones who said, "I am who I am. If you don't like it, go fuck yourself." Unfortunately, today the mantra is, "I am who I am. If you don't like it, you will be forced to accept it." What a sad state of affairs this truly is...

I blame my own generation (generation X) for this. I blame us for giving birth to this self entitled, brainwashed, and spoiled generation of adult children who haven't had the privilege of experiencing life without a helmet. They've had the luxury of living their entire existence under a protective bubble. And as a result, they are now required to have a "safe space". It's not their fault though. It's ours...

The generation of today is a product of our own insecurities. We were lucky enough to grow up in a time when helmets, seatbelts, and kneepads were optional. We grew up in a time when satire and parody were warped reflections of our culture, and recognized as such. 'National Lampoon', 'M.A.D. Magazine' and the 'Onion' were recognized as strange and humorous reflections of ourselves. Now they're taken literally... Where did we go so horribly wrong?

I personally think it all started when we took the 24 hour news cycle seriously. We started to believe that the people who were selling us products, were doing so with our own best interests in mind. Because, we wanted our children to be safe, secure, and carry on our legacy... We forgot that these 24 hour news whores were selling products for corporations who couldn't give two flying fucks and one sloppy blowjob about the well being of you and yours. We forgot that private interests only care about their own... well, private interests... We became "corporatized". And we accepted it and passed it on to the next generation. And they took it without question. Because, why wouldn't they?

This current generation of spoiled brats are merely a reflection of our own ignorance, insecurity, and inability to take responsibility for ourselves. We were the last generation (generation X) who had a chance to stop this corporate monster (Google, Amazon, Facebook, You name it...) from claiming our children. And we decided to sellout our kids for likes and retweets instead. Because we're selfish assholes who don't care about anybody other than ourselves. We want to be entertained and content. So when you piss and moan about how much you can't stand these college kids telling you to respect their "gender pronouns", remember that those are the kids that you raised. They are end result of your apathy. And let that be a reminder that our parents were collectively much better and more disciplined than we are. Because we turned out alright for ourselves, but we really fucked our legacy.

And this is the legacy that we leave behind.

Thanks Dad...

But wait...

We do have a chance to redeem our legacy. Stop treating your children like they're your equal... How about this for a novel idea? You're their parent. Not their friend. Educate and discipline your kids. They won't always like you. Hell, sometimes they'll downright hate you for doing what's right, and inconveniencing them at the moment... But eventually when they grow up, they'll thank you for not fucking up their development through apathy and social justice. They'll thank you for raising them into productive and well adjusted adults. Not these screeching harpies with purple hair that we see today. And then maybe, just maybe, we can laugh at politically incorrect humor once again.

And then you can be their friend... Is that really such a hard bargain for a stable legacy.

Peace!

And turn off the fucking news!!!
