It's time to share with you one of my oldest entries made for a Clothing Design Contest on Deviantart. The year was 2012 and I was so inspired by all of their challenges.
One of them really caught my eye - it was called DeviantWEAR Logo T-shirt Design Challenge.

It was just before I got my tablet, so the first sketch was on paper. Only after the contest was over I manage to make a digital version of it so you can see the progress. ;)
The original name I gave for the contest was "Nature is Art", but later changed it to "Spring". Well, I like both of them. ^.^

I don't have the progress shots of the traditional sketch, only the fact that I made it on paper with size A3 and had to scan it in parts which I assembled later using Photoshop.
And here's the scanned version - I also used Brightness and Contrast to make it pop more. ;)

I made couple of versions placing some colors on top - wasn't very good at this point. I wasn't very sure what effect I really wanted.

After I received my first tablet, spent some time to make the sketch digital and colorful as I visioned it in my mind.
Started with coloring the girl, especially the face and hair. ^.^
I wasn't familiar with any tips and tricks about the hair so you can see how many strokes I made with my pen. XD
I'm still not convinced it was worth it, but at least helped me get a more steady hand.

Moving on to the simple greenish background. At this point it wasn't simple for me (I had to read many tutorials to achieve it).

Later came the swan. Again a very exhausting activity, as I had decided to show every feather on its wings.
Don't you believe? Here's also a close-up for you to see the details.

The good thing is that I had to make only one feather and duplicate it as much as I needed it. Photoshop is s an indispensable tool.

It was high time for the flowers. Also a bit of challenge, but I used a lot of reference.
The one near her neck is actually a lilac. It's not really a flower, more like a small tree and has very strong aroma. It's common in my country and blooms only in spring. It also has different colors - from white to pink and violet. It's made from so many small petals, that was nearly impossible for me to draw them all.
I also placed some light around her like she's shining. Because she's a forest creature and has special powers, hehe.

I used the same technique for the roses - did only one and then duplicated as many times needed.
Some of the flowers from the traditional sketch are missing - decided to remove them, because it was going to be too much.
Hope it's better that way.

Some details of the illustration.

Those flowers (especially the pink lilies - I think that's what they are) look so realistic! This piece reminds me of the wonderful paintings created by the very talented Malaysian artist Limzy (https://www.instagram.com/lovelimzy/?hl=en).

I too believe that Nature is Art - which is why I love using flower petals for my origami creations and that you can't beat nature for the finest materials and inspirations for art!

Thank you, @plushzilla! I became an instant follower. That artist is incredible! Thank you for sharing! ^.^

Yeah, I get every inspiration from the nature. It's the ultimate creator.

Love the detail. It will look awesome on a black shirt

Wow just love it. Thanks for sharing

Thank you, @dreamer007! ^.^ I'm glad you like it and I forgot one detail - one of the entries for the contest was exactly on a black T-shirt. ;)
I didn't share it here, because the rights belong to the Deviantart community, but I can show you the link.

Gorgeous, gorgeous work <3

upvotes and resteems

Thank you, Spidey! ^.^ <3 It was one of the first colored works, that is why I did a second version, but can't really show it (because I used flowers from a website called Freepik). I plan to draw them myself and then show the piece on Steemit.
But I can share with you the girl at least. ;)

Oh, thank you, I'm so glad you like the step by step.
I had so many other things in mind related to that piece, but forgot about them when started writing the post. ^^'
It can be difficult when english is not my first language.

I understand perfectly. No worries.. English is not my native language either, practice makes perfect. If I don't know an exact word or phrase I just google to check the spelling. And again, its georgeous.. you're really talented!

Congratulations! this post got an upvote by @steemrepo and was manually picked by the curator @veryspider to be added on STEEM REPOSITORY, simply comment "YES" and we upload it on STEEM REPO Website.

Thank you, Scrawly! ^.^ I was still very enthusiastic about my tablet and wanted to improve my digital skills as quick as possible. XD
I now see that I had to think better about the composition (not everyone would have agreed to a swan landing on his head), but it was a good experience. This and some other illustrations helped me find a job after all. ;)

Good illustrations

Thank you, @omocomrade! ^.^ Welcome to the Steemit community. ^.^

Congratulations @katalinaooma! You have received a personal award!
