Well, they didn't dump a lot of new cases in NY at the last instant. But NJ doubled its new cases from yesterday, and GA, MD, CT and MA increased their report late in the day. I'm not sure where they came from, except they weren't on the state record until nearly 4 hours after the first release.

Anyway, the US overall is new cases down by 1100+ and new deaths down by almost 500 compared to yesterday.

The graphs of NY, NJ, GA, MI, IL, MA, CT, FL and LA (all in the top 15 for most confirmed cases) are reporting very choppy numbers from day to day and that affects what the overall trends look like. Even with those odd reports the overall US seems pretty clear. The virus has peaked and we are just on the right side of the curve.

Total new cases today, including the odd rise in reports 5 states, is still down at 29000. The peak seem to have been 34,000+ last week. The deaths also seem to be heading down a bit.

NY deaths were down nearly 300, and the NYT reports fewer hospitalizations, fewer ICU admissions, and fewer deaths. Since NYC is the epicenter of the infections this as an important trend.

CT deaths are down almost 100. Across the US no other states had as much as a 50 difference +/- in deaths. Most differences were in single digits. But the total difference was down about 300.

All states seem to be reporting confirmed cases as cases, but odd adds are till popping up in the NY/NJ/CT/MA area.
Baltimore is driving up the MD cases.

Other than that, even the big states of FL, TX, and CA seem to be on the down side of the curve.

It is important that we consider how we open up the economy again, but now is the time to think carefully about what to do because the economy is just as important, if not more so than the virus.

Be serious. Be careful. Take care of the vulnerable. Don't be hysterical.
