SEC19 W5: “A change is as good as a holiday”
Is a change really as good as a holiday?
I’ve never put much thought into this question, as it feels like I am always on the run.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I do agree that sometimes a change of scenery is all you need to recharge and unwind, but on a holiday, I was not so sure about that. Let’s take today as an example.
I woke up in the early hours of the morning as I had some Steemit duties I could not finalize the previous evening due to electricity problems. It was not long after I got up that my husband was also awake. After having our tea and coffee together, I left him to finish my work.
I was still busy when he called me. It was time for the big rugby match between South Africa and the Aussies, who, by the way, are not my favorite team, to start. I quickly finished up with some verification and jumped back in with another cup of tea. It felt like the life of a queen, watching television so early in the morning. Oh yes, a queen with a smile on her face, as it was a victory for South Africa.
The rugby is not where it ended. We love sports, and as a result, I watched the highlights of the men's speed climbing, a gold medal for Indonesia. I can just imagine how proud my Indonesian friends must be. Well done!
It was only after the men’s marathon that we decided that it was time to get up.
“Let’s go for a drive,” I told my husband. He gave me a look and, then, a smile. I knew I had him right where I wanted him. I think it was the quickest shower I have had in my life. I even washed my hair and didn’t even dry it. I was just so excited to get out of the house. Something we haven’t done on the spur of the moment in ages.
We decided to embark on a little coastal adventure. We took a leisurely drive along the coast, soaking in the stunning views and the fresh sea breeze. It was the perfect day—not cold and not hot either. What was amazing was the fact that it was the route we travel on Sundays to church, but this time everything looked different. The plants were greener, the ocean was more blue, and the people were happier.
Our first and last stop was at one of the charming holiday villages that line the shore, Umdloti. There, we watched the bathers enjoying the sun, children playing in the tidal pools, and surfers catching waves.
The vibrant atmosphere was infectious. It felt like a mini-vacation, a perfect break from our usual routine. Did I say “mini-vacation”?
We took our time exploring, letting the relaxed pace of the village wash over us.
As hunger struck, we stumbled upon a delightful Portuguese restaurant. We indulged in some fantastic cuisine, savoring every bite as we chatted about the sights and our day’s adventures.
Fried halloumi with warmed honey and peri-peri sauce, beef trinchado cooked in a white wine and garlic sauce, and per-peri chicken livers and calamari tubes. All served with that famous Portuguese bun.
It was with content hearts and full stomachs that we headed back home, as hubby had to be at tennis.
It’s amazing how a simple day trip can refresh your spirit. Sometimes, you don’t need to go far to experience something new and invigorating. The day reminded us that a change of scenery, even if brief, can be just as revitalizing as a full-blown holiday.
I've just answered that question I was wondering about with a big... YES!
I invite @ngoenyi, @casv, @edgargonzalez and @ruthjoe to take part in this contest

You know, we get so caught up in the world around us that we often miss out on the things that really matter.
The trip was an eye-opener and a reminder to get up from your computer and enjoy the smaller things with your family.
I wish you a beautiful week!
¡Saludos y feliz día!

Thank you!
It's never another friend to take a vacation or take a vacation day just to do different activities that are great for us, she woke up early to fulfill her responsibilities on Steemit and then be able to enjoy the game with her husband.
A last trip to the beaches where you could see a unique day of action that she enjoyed with her husband and friend.
Saludos 👍🇻🇪
Yes my friend... it was a lovely day!
It just might me realize how important these days of changes are for us.
Thanks for the visit! ☕
Yes! We received your entry for SEC19: Speak your style!
You have enjoyed sports a lot. Of course, sometimes we can get happiness from a small trip during holidays. There is no need to go very far for that.
Thank you! 🎕

Yes it's through if we change our perspective from one direction, it will refresh us and makes our body systems to relax and feel good, reduces stress. Making a change from doing one particular thing to another is as good as having a holidays. It's nice knowing that you watch Rugby game live, I love the game too but only watch it on TV
