A Good Day To Do Good

in Project HOPE17 days ago

Each day we live, we are given the opportunity to make an impact in someone's life and in the world around us. Impact in not only your words, but by your actions of goodness, which should be what you are remarked for. Your acts of goodness are what will be remembered (and will even create a lasting memory) even after you have gone. Let people feel your presence and value it, so even when you are gone, your good works will speak for you.

The good that you want to do to someone, today is a good day to do it when the person will still have a need for it and value it. What other day can be better to do good than today? I once attended the funeral of the Grandfather of one of my childhood friends sometimes in the past. The presiding priest made a particular statement that still rings loud in my mind. He said "whatever you can do for someone, it will be worthwhile for you to do it while they are still alive, not posthumously." It is sad and ironic that someone would die of something that you know you can afford, but you will spend much more than that on the person's burial. This is like sharing assorted food in the funeral of someone that died of starvation. Why not give them the food while they are alive?

The good that you do to someone can become their sustenance in life and can return their hopes to them. Do not withhold the good that you know you can afford from someone that is in dire need of it. Sometimes, people do not need your motivational speech but your empathy - what you can do for them. There is no amount of encouragement or motivational words you speak to someone that is dying out of thirst that can equate to giving them even a little glass of water to drink. There is no help or good that is too small to be given. This is because, most times, it is not the size of what you have done that ultimately counts but how available, ready, and relevant the help is.

You should not only be receiving goodness, also be a channel through which others are blessed. At any point you are in life, there is still someone that needs what you can offer. So do not feel that the act of showing goodness or doing good is exclusively reserved for the rich. In everyone's capacity, and at their present state and level, they still have something that they can use to do good. The truth is that if you cannot do good from where you are, even if you attain a higher level in life, you will still have excuses of not doing good.

When you wake up in the morning and you are scheduling your activities for the day, also make provisions for others too. You are not blessed for you to consume all of them alone on yourself, but so that you can also use them to uplift and bless others. If no one tells you "thank you" in a day, then you have to search yourself and know if you have done any good for the day. Not that you need people to thank you, but it shows that you are doing something that is good and worthy of appreciation.

There is an inner joy and a feeling of happiness that comes into the heart when you have done a good act to someone and you have been a blessing to them. I remember what I humorously told my friend when we had a discussion about happiness. I told him "if you want to be happy, then make others to be happy too." The happiness you create in others when you have done good to them will create a sense of fulfillment for you and you will automatically become happy. One of the core mandates of humans to humanity is to be good and do good to everyone. Doing good makes you to become a better human both to yourself and to others.

Greetings, friend.

Very true what you say, one's happiness is the same that feels the person to whom you are helping selflessly, a gesture of kindness, give the person the opportunity to express their feelings, listen to be that helping hand helps you to be happy.

Greetings

Nicely said. Thanks for coming around, buddy @gaming.yer

The good book says, blessed are we when we give than when we receive, we should indeed be focused more on giving than receiving, that has always been my message and lifestyle.

That's right. The blessings in giving are more than we can ever imagine.
Thanks buddy
