My Actifit Report Card: August 27 2019
Focus Point through a fence and Actifit Report and a surprise visitor
Last night i had a lot on my mind and also in a comment yesterday I tempted fate saying i seldom if ever have any trouble sleeping at night, well yesterday afternoon a few things happened that i guess were stuck n my mind ast night when I went to bed ass I struggled to get to sleep, I think I feel asleep at about 2Am in the morning, when my alarm went off around 4:15 I turned it off and thought I would just lay there for a minute or two before getting up, next thing I knew, my Wife was waking me just after 5, so a late start today missed my normal train which meant I got into the city later than usual and had no time for a before work walk so straight to the office and hence a lower than normal step count today.
This is an actifit post but as is now my new norm I am now starting these posts with a few photos taken with my Sony camera and then will move on to a few shots from the walk I did today.
For this post I am doing something similar to a Post @manorvillemike did here showing the effect of different zoom levels when shooting through a fence, I had taken some shots to show a similar effect and was about to prepare the post when I saw his and was going to put it off for a while but he said to go for it so here it is.
Mine is slightly different from his as what I was changing was not the focal length but the focus point.
This first shot the focus was on the fence well maybe a little short of the fence so I got a cool bokeh effect on the background to the fence, its hard to tell in this shot what is actually behind the fence.

If you look at the settings for this second shot you can see there all about the same but i was using manual focus, as autofocus would most likely have just picked up on the fence and not got the effects I wanted to show in this post
For this shot the focus is more on the fence and slightly behind it and you can see the shapes of the cards which are creating the bokeh ( round circles of light)

And for this last shot my focus point is on the FDR Highway as seen through the fence on a walkway over the FDR in a park near 50th Street and as you can see the fence has all but disappeared in this shot, but I promise you this was shot from the same point as the others just with a different focal point,
The zoom is slightly different at 105mm, not 112 as for the others but its the point I was focusing on that made all the difference

Now I will share a few shots taken today with my iPhone showing my walk today
Following on from the which had vehicles in it, I happened to get shots of some bikes around the city , starting with this motorbike

And a Bicycle, I wonder if someone stole the seat of the owner takes it into his workplace so no one steals the bike

This next bike has a seat at least but it looks like some vehicle drove over his rear wheel so the owner wont be happy when he comes out planning to ride home

Now if you don't have a Bicycle and yet still want to ride around the city you can hire one of these CitiBikes, they have stands for them all over Manhattan, and you can hire from one location and drop it off in another

And a last Bike shot, this one i have seen a few times around the city, and you can hear it coming from a long way off the rider of it, clearly loves loud music and has it basting when he is riding around town

For those that made it all the way down to this point of my post, thanks, and when I was walking out of the building to head to another building for a meeting this morning I was surprised to see a visitor in gardens

I think this may be the same one I saw a few weeks ago and shared shots of recently i this post, I had my bag with me and my camera so I got a few shots of it to share in a future post
I have no idea how I got up to 14 steps today when I didn’t do a walk before work I was quite surprised to see the total just now
And that’s all folks
unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Thanks always nice to get rewarded for activity :)
Wow being a motorbike enthusiast I loved the bike...Not the color though. All your photos are amazing.
Thanks I used to be into motorbikes myself but most of mine were off-road but I do like a nice road bike to see
Cool trick with the focus. I used that at auto races when I have to shoot through a fence.
It is a cool trick which I wasn't sure some may have known about so I decided to come up with this to start the post
As a bicycler myself, I do appreciate the cool and varied bike photos.
Its been years since I road a bike I may get one when I retire,
Love those first two! You might have guessed : )
I have to admit it was seeing one of your posts that gave me the idea for those first couple of shots
I shoot a lot through chain link! It's really fun getting the circle shapes. :) Twisting the focus really changes the image.
Ohh yeah its something i dont do often but perhaps i should :)
I like it when there are multiple layers to shoot through. There's often a spot where it looks really nice.
Yes indeed I know you do that so well
Thank you so much!
Most welcome my friend
Nice visitor in garden and other photos in the city.

lol! I also wonder if someone was a jerk and stole that poor dude's bike seat!
Your pictures always make me want to go back to NYC. I'm hoping to do an overnight trip in December. I love NY.
Wouldnt that be so annoying if you came out from work and found your bicycle seat stolen, would for sure spoil your day
I have to admit that when I was first dragged kicking and screaming to work in NYC from the field I dreaded the idea and insisted it would be for just one year, but i have been here over 15 years now and it has grown on me, I do still see it as a concrete jungle, but I do love all the things I can find on walks here
