👨‍💻 #Proposal-86: Hide Resteems on steemitdev.com

in Steem Dev12 days ago

Following on from last week's update, I was able to resolve the issue with hiding Resteems on other user's Friends Feeds. The solution ending up being fairly simple - retrieving the user being viewed from the pathname rather than using the category and order.

This is working well and along with the update to the community banner layout on mobile devices, is now available for review and testing on steemitdev.com.

Your feedback is important so please take some time to review these updates with a view to them being pushed to steemit.com next week.

I have also deployed it on moecki.online to test it.
If I notice anything, I'll let you know.

The position of the checkbox seems a bit misplaced to me. Especially on the mobile site, the box seems somehow lost in this position. Could it perhaps be positioned next to the dropdown field? But I don't have a really good idea right now either.

I've been wanting to tell you something for a while:
Can you see the line at the bottom of the screenshot (outlined in red)? It is permanently visible on my page. Can you reproduce it?

The line is located exactly above the PrimaryNavigation. I had a look at the developer console. There is a border that is displayed:

I've wondered about the positioning of the "Hide Resteems" too. There's normally the "Order" dropdown in the area that you've highlighted which might be a bit confusing if something else appears there instead.

I've wondered about a longer term solution of introducing a "filters" bar or "options" for when additional functionality becomes available (if that happens)... regardless, I notice that the spacing could do with some adjustment.

I'll have a look at the 1px top border... I've got a feeling I've removed that style in a previous release. If you take a look at the PrimaryNavigation.scss file, this section should look like this (lines 13 to 18):

This is it...

I removed that line with the communities release:

True, but not in the "feed" view.

That's a good idea. I would also favour that. But these would have to be quickly accessible. Clicking through to the profile settings would be too much.

Oh, that's right too! After your hint I saw that the line came back in one of my later merges... don't ask me how that happened. So the fault lies with me :-D

I agree. My current thinking with that is for a show/hide panel that's within the context of the feed. I've just looked and it appears that peakd do something similar already.

I'm currently implementing the "Pinned Carousel" for mobile devices so will postpone thinking too much just yet 🤯

I like this functionality. It saves time.🚀🚀🚀

A feature long needed, sometimes when I scroll over the posts I need to scroll over 10 resteems until I get a non-resteemed post.

Clearly makes you life easier and who knows maybe even the feed will load faster on mobile with this option checked.

I'm pleased to hear that you like the idea - I've often been frustrated having to scroll past Resteems (i.e. contest entries) so it's good to hear that I'm not alone.

...who knows maybe even the feed will load faster on mobile with this option checked.

Sadly, I don't think that will be the case. The data's still being processed and the HTML is output to the screen but it's hidden through the CSS... you've made me wonder if I'd be better off hiding it at the render stage... 🤔

Blog is with resteems, Posts is without.

Hello Sir, I have seen that you are down voting my posts. In which you are buying votes on some posts. I want to know from you why you are doing this. What could be the reason for this. Tipu can go and see that many votes are bought every day. Please tell me.

Many people buy votes - for you, it’s the account farming and multiple accounts that you’re doing it with. As well as the horribly low quality content that is also being promoted.

Assalam-o-Alaikum!

Sir, I am @bhaiaslam from Pakistan. I have been active on Steemit since 2017. I want to ask you that I usually use AI-generated pictures free from any kind of copyright. I give the source of the software that I use to generate those pictures. Can I keep on doing this? If yes then reply to me and if no then guide me on what can I do with the already-used pictures. But, I only use the pictures usually in SLC Challenges, not in dairies or photography.

This is an example of what I said.

That is ok. What's not ok is using AI to adjust photos with you in them.

I understood. I will soon change this picture with another one.
Thanks For replying.
