Challenge30days Day 2: Best Practices To Accomplish Your 2019 Resolutions
It is customary for everyone to try to kickoff a new year with a fresh set of goals or milestones to attain. The new year is an opportunity to make significant changes to make the new year better than previous years. In order to achieve this, people make new year resolutions as a measure of assessment in the course of the year. While some make it just a mental note, others document it for reference and record purpose.
Here I will share a few tips to make your 2019 resolutions achievable before or at the end of the year.
Firstly, write them down. Make a list of your resolutions for the year. Write what behaviours or habits you want to stop, the kind of friends you want to make, the number of hours you want to spend in the gym per week, the number of new words you want to learn per week, etc. Writing them down gives you a regular reminder of those items and helps you to do a regular assessment of how far you've gone in achieving them or to know which ones you've been neglecting along the line so as to give those more attention.
Secondly, put this list in a place where you can see it often. This depends on individuals. While it is more suitable for some to put it near their dressing mirror, some may use their wardrobes. Some may even put it on their bed-side cabinet while others may attach it to their office drawers, depending on the nature of the resolutions they've made. Doing this gives you a regular reminder of those items on the list.
Thirdly, be sincere while putting down this list. Write down only things you're ready to achieve, not fantasies that just comes to mind. For example, you decide to start a business and you set an unreasonable high profit target for yourself. What this can do is that it makes you frustrated along the line, nullifying your aspirations or even probably crumbling the business.
Be determined. No resolution is easy on its own to achieve. The fuel that keeps resolutions alive is determination. Fix your gaze on those things you've set to accomplish and do all it takes you to achieve them. You will need to deny yourself of some pleasures definitely, but that determination will help you to accomplish your goals.
Lastly from me, do a regular review or assessment. This could be monthly or quarterly, depending on what you're trying to accomplish. A regular assessment helps you to know your progress and it also helps you to track the activities that have helped you to make those achievements possible. At each regular assessment, you could prune or rephrase your goals, removing those that are already accomplished and modifying others to becoming more realistic.
