Russia still my Love.....

For Dance Weekend I will re-start music from the Eastern paert of Europe - here the topic Russia with some nice commercial and visually appealing Dance Music. Anyone knows this band? You can't do anything wrong with popular dance tunes and a line-up of three good looking girls. Hope you enjoy it - no annoying Techno / Trance I usually present.

Introducing Serebro

Serebro is a Russian Girl Band consisting of Olga Seryabkina, Kate Kishuk and Polina Favorskaya. The band was founded by Maxim Fadeev - a big music producer in Russia back in 2006. Not sure if the line-up is still correct, the above three girls - or is Tatiana Morgunova now the one having replaced Polina? I do not know for sure. When the band started they had even totally different girls performing - strange? No - that is music business.

Eurovision Song Contest 2007

That was when it really started to become popular. Serebro with Marina Lizorkina, Seryabkina, and Elena Temnikova represented Russia at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with the song titled "Song #1" - they ended up third only but became hugely successful after this contest. Line-up changed thereafter due to pregnancies and other reasons.

Their debut studio album OpiumRoz received critical acclaim but did not become a huge commercial success, album no. 2 was better financially with the hit single "Mama Lover" - also title name of the album. The song got worldwide attention - the music video fondly achieved over 20 million views on YouTube and was used for parodies around the world - at least 250 - hence was successful awareness wise.

After that they produced international versions of Mama Lover for e.g. the Japanese audience and hit the European charts with their track Mi Mi Mi.

In general the band became known and famous for sexually charged style - hmmm - I am a man so I think they did all correct lol - well the public officially had issues and it led to controversy in the media, including "Mama Lover" and "Mi Mi Mi" - who cares? Enjoy their music and videos!
