Content vs. Value

in #blog5 years ago

I am going to admit, it is hard.
Or, is it?
Sure, I thought, just start blogging, you have a story to tell.
Which is it going to be?

There are no stories of victory nowadays, I guess. Most of our struggles are borderline abstract and virtual. We are headed towards some kind of a monolithic achievement, constructed along the way, embedded in our minds by the circumstances we involuntarily find ourselves in. Reinforced by the technological advancement of our modern day era, the information explosion, the interconnectedness, that we so much embrace.

Is there going to be a satisfactory outcome, one day?
For every individual, as it has been conceptualized in his or her thoughts, through the outlook on the world they have?

What is the pursuit of the modern man?

Let´s consider blogging, for instance.
It is a creative and productive activity, which in itself can be rewarding. At first, it was basically writing in its pure essence, only using new tools and media, that enabled the writer a better outreach and gave an opportunity to target larger audience. Since then, it has evolved into something more.
And the name for something more is „creating content“.

Browsing through the vastness of the bloggers universe, you can get lost in some kind of a rabbit hole at its best, consumed by the plethora of impulses in your own search of knowing. At its worst, as an aspiring writer/blogger, you can be off-putted immediately. And this may be only subjective, as I tend to be over-analytical at times, especially when it comes to matters, that I regard important and writing surely is one of them. And blogging for me, primarily is exactly that. Because words, when used properly, have an immense power and potential to change things for better.

I sense, that a major part of another great invention has become a link in a chain that encompasses our modern society and that is consumerism and materialism.

See, I get that having your own blog is one of the statements of personal freedom and you can use it however you please. But why all the hassle and rush then? Always striving for more followers, trying to make your site more appealing, creating the so much craved content.

What is the value though? Is there any?
In the oceans of material that is spamming the atmosphere of this virtual ether.

What do we actually value?

Shouldn´t it be something, that propels us towards a brighter future, as a whole, mankind united, freed from the sorrows of the past, remembering it only as a lesson learned?

Or is it that, when we can bridge the gaps of our differences via the small things that we find interesting, in our own everyday bubble, that give value to us solely, and thanks to reaching out and connecting, letting the world know about us, we can then establish a worthy dialog based on humane principles, without any closed minded attitudes and aim for a higher purpose?

I sure have a story or two to tell.
But more than telling these stories, I am interested in asking questions. Because, from my stories, I have already gotten some answers. They have made me stop and think for a moment, reevaluate, distinguish between who I was and who I was not, helped me realize, who I want to become.

As far as value goes, this is something that counts.

In conclusion, I am not looking for a content, that does everything for me, rather than looking for stories, that are able to entice a constructive debate.
