Amd Ryzen 3 News from ces 2019 vs. intel tech
The new Ryzen generation will also be manufactured using the 7 nm process. Since Intel is known to work only on the 10-nm process here, AMD can secure a lead for the projected launch in mid-2019.
Things have changed for the desktop CPUs: the new Ryzen CPUs will adopt the chiplet design of the new EPYC server / workstation CPUs. This means that input / output tasks are outsourced to an extra die. With the shown Ryzen processor with eight cores, there are two dies on the silo![218xmo6z.bmp]# cone. It is interesting that the Dies not centered, but slightly offset - enough space for a second 8-core Die?!
AMD showed the performance of the CPU in the Cinebench R15 - a multi-core benchmark in which Ryzen CPUs have performed very well for years. In this benchmark, the third generation Ryzen scored 2,023 points against Intel's high-end i9-9900K chip with 2,042 points. Both CPUs were air-cooled and should have been similarly equipped. But there are some comments: On the one hand, the clock rates of the Ryzen chip are not yet final (and were not mentioned), while the i9-9900K should run at 4.7 GHz. The power consumption of the system was AMD at only 130 watts compared to the 180 watts of the Intel system - so there is still plenty of room for improvement. And if there's a 16-core CPU, the i9-9900K would be pretty much beaten.
