Temporary Home for abandoned Dogs #1 Meet the beautiful, 5 months old, NOÉMIE <3
Hello my fellow dog-lovers
As there are too many homeless and abandoned dogs in Poland, we (me and my Girlfriend), have decided to give at least a few of them a temporary home. In this way, we can save a lot of dogs from being beaten up or other horrible situations they're in and help to find a perfect house and family for them.
We have already adopted 2 dogs ourselves, Blanka(6years) and Chelsea(3years). Both came from a terrible situation as well, but maybe this is something for another post so I can share a timeline of them with the pictures we have :)
So, back to Noémie...
Noémie is a German shepherd and is around 5 months old, originally coming somewhere from the Balkans. The owner of the dog had brought it to a foundation as she did not want to have this dog anymore. The reason? She wasn't growing very well and would always stay smaller than a 'normal' German shepherd (something that must be very terrible...).
WHAT THE **** IS THAT FOR A REASON TO ABANDON YOUR DOG?
Yes, people, this kind of things can make me so angry!!!!!!! Like, whenever you're girlfriend or wife is pregnant, and your kid comes to the world with brown eyes instead of blue, so then you just dump your kid for adoption as..... sorry... but it was not really what you were expecting...
But, in this case, the reason seems to be very different. When they brought Noémie to us, we directly could see that there was something wrong with the legs and back. When she is walking, her feet on the back are not fully stretched and sometimes she even falls.
We wanted to know if this was related to a disease (Hip dysplasia??)) so this is one of the reasons why we directly took her to the veterinarian, but also to do a general checkup and to give a worm treatment, as she had worms as well.
The veterinarian could directly see that she was short on vitamins and heavily underfed. She was very skinny and definitely not on weight, something that also could make the situation worse for her as she had 0 energy.
Our veterinarian couldn't say if it was related to a disease, just because the dog was in such terrible condition that it could be related to anything. He gave her some vitamin shots, worm treatment and the advise to feed her very well to see if she will do better over the next days.
When we arrived home, we tried to give her food... but, somehow, she couldn't recognize it was food what made it very hard to let her eat. It really looked like she didn't get much food over the last 5 months... Something that really got us worried.
As she smelled like pee and poop (most likely because she slept outside the last months), we took her to the bath. This was something she really didn't mind as she was just sitting in the bathtub, relaxing until she was washed.
Then, over the next days, we're really starting to know each other and 'Oh my god', she can be such a rascal, hehe. She picks everything she can, and not to break it, but just to move it to another place. Also, she started eating a lot which immediately had a huge impact on her energy level. She is so happy, eating bones (HUGE BONES!), playing with toys and with the other two ladies, and even on the walks, she is doing very well.
She still has some issues with her hip and legs, but, I think it improved for like 60% and this all in 1 week only!!! Also, what we really can see is that she is growing already... Now you probably think; 'And how is that possible in only one week'... Now, believe me, whenever a dog didn't eat normally for such a long while, especially when they're still a puppy, and then suddenly start eating like crazy, you will see the difference day by day, which is a good thing!
Today, she had her first walk outside without the leash and she stayed with the other two girls without running away. No need to guess why, as she had no need to run away, just because she knows that whenever we go home again, she will be loved, has food and nicely warm during the night.
Unfortunately, we are not able to keep her. Not because we do not want to because I really would like to keep her... But, just because we don't have space for this and also, we made this decision to give dogs tempory homes so that more dogs can be saved. This is something we need to keep our minds at, as for Noémie we will definitely find a good home with people who will give her as much love as we're doing currently.
Actually, for Noémie it went quite quickly as we already found a home for her! Two days ago we received a call from a couple who were very interested in her. We have mentioned the issues she is having with her legs during the call, but this was not something that would block them from picking Noémie home with them.
The couple visited us the same day and told us that they had a dog previously who died and had a disease on her legs. They were in love with Noémie and asked us if it was possible for us to take care of her for a couple of days more, so they could make the place ready for her to give the warmest welcome when she arrives.
Tomorrow they will pick her up, what probably results in a quite emotional moment for me, as I am someone who has difficulties with saying goodbyes. But, what I do know and what's the most important in this case, we found a new home for Noémie!!!!
The experience of giving a temporary home to dogs is very intense but gives you so much power and positivity in return. We already look forward welcoming another abandoned dog so we can make sure that he/she also will receive all the love they deserve!!

Oh my goodness she is so cute. How can people abandon animals? This is something I will never understand... All my life I rescued any kind of animal and took care of them as long as I could.
No idea @lugano, at least we are one of the good ones who do care and are able to help a few of them at least!
