Piñata in San Antonio - Original drawing from travel sketchbook
Sometimes in drawing it is all about what you leave out, instead of what you choose to include. This star piñata was hanging as outdoors decoration in a San Antonio Restaurant. It sure made the ambience festive. I wanted to capture it in a very gestural drawing, trying to keep the fun light tone of the object. I didn't want it to be heavy-handed, so I was careful to describe many parts with negative white space. Many times our drawing can be appear stuffy because we are too meticulous in describing heavy outlines that "imprison" the image.
Nice work @Siloe I love the simplicity. Being in San Antonio I can almost smell the tacos and hear the tourist boats pass on the riverwalk ;)
Thanks Blake!
