[Melomaniac] 5 Chilean Independent ROCK Bands.

Chile has one of the most increasing music industries of Latin America and with more than 99% of music coming from independent artists, I'm pretty sure you could be missing very good sounds from the south of the world, so if you're looking for good independent new music, here you'll find some great bands, from different kinds of rock. Here we go!.. 

Erick Avila  

Erick is a very talented guitar player, founder member of the chilean band Six Magics, where he was not only guitarist but composer, arranger and record producer. The album I'm introducing to you is Origen (2017) an instrumental work influenced by chilean folk music, latin rythms and of course, his usual heavy/epic metal sound. 

Inclusión  

This is a project that explores different types of electronic sounds, and at the same time considers all music genders as a possible inspiration. It's creator is Valentín Fertorández, and it's music producer is other great chilean musician, called Pancho Folk. It's first album is called Fragmentos (2017) and it's composed by 3 EPs called FGN, AEO and RTMS, this last one, in which I had the pleassure to work at backing vocals.

Frank's White Canvas

Is a chilean band formed by 2 young girls: Karin Aguilera (lead singer and guitar) and Francisca Torés (drums), that makes pop/rock influenced by artists like Placebo, Alter Bridge and others. In my opinion, if you are musician and you are starting your career, their story could be a good guide about what to do and how. There is a documentary, launched recently by the band itself, where you can start to get info about them (watch it here).

Tomy Delay  

This is a project from Osorno City (X Región de Los Lagos) in the south of Chile, influenced in my opinion, by the weather and landscapes of the south. Formed by Oliver Konow (drums), Zach Konow (bass and lead singer) and Alejandro Barrientos (guitar). This band offers an alternative rock experience and a very interesting energy in their live shows.

Kuervos Del Sur  

I think that rock lovers from anglo cultures, usually feels very attracted by the fusion between rock and latin american sounds, and is this case, they really made a good work by merging progressive rock with the chilean folk identity,  so it's a very good choice if you are a prog rock lover, 'cause you'll find good lyrics (if you understand spanish), with a big and mature sound in this album called El Vuelo del Pillán (2016) [full album here].
