There's not much to tell about this Dutch painter who is named after the place Den Bosch (officially called: 's Hertogebosch)
Today there's hardly information about him except he used irony and his work inspired many to copy him. As a result, it cannot be said what was made by him and what was not (he rarely signed his work).
What is left are a few sketches and paintings and I can't say I am not as excited as some criticals are but who knows the book on Amazon is better than the few sketches and paintings I saw on this site, 257 works is an overstatement. The biggest part of what is shown are close-ups of a bigger painting.

The name of this painting is: Concert in the Egg. What exactly it stands for? Nothing is for sure except religion combined with irony might be a good start to discuss about what is shown. Let's have at the faces, the animals and the tiny figures all present for a reason.

A bit info

Sort:

Every artist, working on his painting wants to put in it a meaning that is obvious to everyone or a hidden meaning that is understood only by the artist.

Probably the author of the painting Concert in the Egg who was presumably Hieronymus Bosch decided to make something obvious and he decided to make something hidden.

We are all covered with a kind of shell this applies to both atheists and believers in God.

Some can get out of the shell in the last days of their lives, and someone tries to get out of it throughout their entire life and as soon as it seems that the shell is already behind a new layer of the shell appears.

Someone thinks that his faith in God makes him head and shoulders above others and the Tower of Babel of pride begins to rise on him and someone condemns a musician who playing the flute makes sounds no more pleasant than the cry of a heron but at the same time he may like how a demon in the form of a goat sweetly plays the mandalin.

They all say that they dream of seeing the Eden serpent dead but at the same time they feed him with their sinful thoughts and deeds.

I do not know who exactly painted this picture, because everything is ambiguous here the notes and lyrics of the song in the book will appear only 45 years after the death of Hieronymus Bosch there may be condemnation of the author of this song, who was Thomas Crequillon or on the contrary, Hieronymus Bosch will be considered a prophet and a wonderful musician.

I recall the lines of a book by a pastor friend of mine, who was thinking about the possibility of losing God's salvation... the only thing that can lead to this is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and blasphemy is not swearing, not emotions, it is an attempt to call God's demonic and vice versa, you can't call the demonic God's.

I see something similar in this picture and therefore looking at it, it is very easy to succumb to the temptation of any kind of judgment, and judgment is a sin a trick of Satan.

Read the Bible, there is everything we need even without pictures.

This is really a great review you wrote and by reading you I see the painting from a different point of view. Super since it's different from what the critic wrote. Thanks to you the egg has a meaning. It felt the old group didn't grow and remained the same from the moment they were born too afraid to leave, note even if they are robbed by another. Strange, how people rather suffer than getting out and trying something new.

There are many things that a person cannot change, he only thinks that he is able to do something without God's help, but everything is His will, because He knows our hearts and does not do what we are not ready for, does not force us to make any important decision, in this the Father gives us freedom.
Such freedom can be seen in this picture, we are free to think that its author is Basch, or to think that someone forged the style of this artist and decided to sell the picture at a higher price, we can think about plageasure on the part of the author of the musical work and about the foresight of the author of the picture.
Note that paradise is presented very poorly in this picture, post-apocalyptic, bare trees without leaves, but the apple of good and evil is untouched ... it looks like a deception, and as for hell, in the lower right corner, everything is true there. The turtle is probably a symbol of the fact that we quickly hide our heads in our shells at the first sign of something incomprehensible, but are slow in making the right decisions... probably.

If I think of a turtle I think of eternal wisdom and one of the oldest species surviving millions of years.

Thanks for the review. It's a delight to read it. Do you have some art to share you like?

Have you seen a hungry turtle?
If you watch such a turtle, which strives for treats and completely forgets about any danger, thoughts about its wisdom will immediately dissolve lol :)
Someone wanted us to associate wisdom with a turtle and millions of years against the background of the five-thousand-year history of the Earth described in the Bible is a bit too much.
There was a time when I knew by heart the names and authors of most of the paintings from the art galleries of the world, but that was a long time ago, I like a lot, but I think about them only when I accidentally see them, as in this case.

I am very far from the skill of those artists, but I try not to think about other people's work, since I try to draw something myself, otherwise, it is difficult to achieve something original.

I had two turtles big ones in my bedroom. Kind of smelly if they weren't cleaned for two days or so (weekend at grandmother).
As I put them on the floor they ran underneath the bed and didn't want me to catch them. They could be very scary! Are you tellingbme now they saw me as a snack! 😰

I believe animals who survived the ages are smart. Might be not the intelligence we see as intelligence but it takes a lot to asapt the change of time. Humans aren't that flexible and stress out a lot, too much. We abandoned our instinct and tell us it's better to think (not that that works out for most).

Your drawing has something unique it reminds me of a world where flora and fauna count most and developed. I hope the bridge is a memory of a far past.

Are those bulrushes among the waterside?

🍀♥️

In this herbarium on the river bank there can be any familiar flora, any weed, anything your imagination suggests, somewhere near the river there should be reeds, but I did not plan it :)
Moreover, fantasizing on this topic is absolutely safe for the soul and body, from the good moments, the aroma of honey can be present in fantasies.

If wisdom is closely connected with stench, then... Have you been to a barn with a lot of cows and a pigsty with a thousand pigs?

There, in such a case, is the concentration of wisdom :)

Yes, I have been to barns and I lived in an old farmhouse where the (pig) stables surrounded it though not thousands. Do they exist where you live? Cows with us are getting rare and they are forced to go outside even though they rather stay in because the like it warm and a massage is also something they like. LOL

Are you a poet too @barski?

Of all the artworks, perhaps the one that interests me the most is sculpture. In several cities in several provinces on the island of Java that I have visited, I have always liked the statues that adorn the corners of the city. Maybe it's because the statues are available in open spaces so they are easy to find. Right, birthday boy @saintkelvin17?

One that I admire is the statue in the following image.

xyz.png

I took this picture with my smartphone camera in 2021, in the Kali Besar area, near Kota Tua, Jakarta. I don't know who exactly made the statue, but a Google search suggests that it was probably made by an artist named Dolorosa Sinaga. Apart from this statue, there are several other statues by the artist around the area. Whether the statue is still there today, I don't know.

The statue's friendly gestures drew me in, and I ended up chatting to him. We got acquainted and discussed the book he was reading, which was about the last days of Socrates, it just so happened that we shared an interest in the philosopher, unlike @ronnie10.

xyz1.png

Then I headed to the toilet, and when I got back there, he was flirting with my girlfriend.

xyz2.png

Sorry if this comment is out of topic.

I don't know if this was out of context or not. That is something that @ wakeupkitty would have to give an answer to.

I agree. The statue is really looking friendly. It looks normal when it was on its on. But, the pictures that shows people with the statue, gives me the same feeling about it.

It fits to the contest, art is art and you are free to share the art and words you like. The only statues I saw like these were in Germany, perhaps a place in France (former German). I never saw it anywhere else.

@naina9 do you have an interest in a philosopher? This one doesn't bite, and unlike what @aneukpineung78 believes, he doesn't flirt. How come I believe the statue moved to the middle in the last picture? @tezzamax @almaguer do you have statues flirting? would you avoid sitting on such a bank?

I have no problem with statues. Here in Cuba there are many. In the capital there is a very famous one of John Lennon (musician). Sculpture is an ancient art. Expressive. To turn stone into something vibrant and meaningful, or any material, to give it life is great. Not everyone would have the ability and skill to do this kind of art. Any kind of art in general.

#wewrite #comment

I only have problem with ones who flirt with my girl. Why don't you compete in this contest, you can show the John Lennon sculpture and write a little about it.

He only can if he can travel to the capital city 🤔
There's no gasoline for sale.

Are you sure the statue is the one who flirts?

I thought that this painting depicts a religious believer who can no longer listen to the songs and melodies of hope in the name of God's words. The eggshell is like a fragile shackle, religious believers rebel trying to get out of things forbidden in teachings that may be considered irrelevant from food to behavior.

karl-marx-8669662_1280.webp

I am reminded of the controversy of a popular quote from Karl Marx "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people", which became even more phenomenal when cut to "Religion is the opium of the people".

So I think it is very important to know the profile of religion as a whole, by trying to understand the essence of its teachings, not just from the behavior of religious adherents. True religion must contain perfect and comprehensive goodness, while humans are not free from mistakes and errors.

What do you think @almaguer @hefestus?

Who says the painter of the eggshell ever listened to talks about god or that music? Since he's famous because of irony I assume he want to show something or better make something clear. How about hypocrism of those who claim to believe and point fingers at others and change the rules to make them fit for them?
Can it be that religion back then was mainly meant to keep the people dumb and fear for their lives while a very small group lived in luxury drinking wine and eating like pigs while singing Halleluja, praise the lord, blah, blah, blah while they in the meanwhile commit every sin?

Coulourful picture you shared.

Do you know this Dutchman? He has made a self-portrait after fulfilling a promise. Doesn't love deserve sacrifices? We could talk about art. Of religion and its lakes of faith. True art prevails despite time, and incomprehension.

Do you want to talk about: painting, promises (did we note them or made them or said them to make one shut up), the reason (or thoughts) why he or someone else cut an ear?
Don't you like the sunflowers more?

We talked about all the art, I think you have already inoculated me with the pleasure of painting. I'm preparing some things to paint two paintings I have in mind. Although I no longer have any yellow, which is a basic color.
Let's talk about any subject, there is always a lot to tell and learn.

The picture taken can be found in wikiart.org under Donato Bramante work.

Details about the artists:
Born in 1444
He is an Italian architect who is also known as Bramante Lazzari. According to Wikipedia, his work was in Milan and Rome and he has built a several churches.

His work is nice. I have picked to share this art of his because, it is showing a historic building architecture. The name of the painting is Pavia Cathedral. I think it portrays a medieval era in Europe and Italy in particular. The art is showing the beauty of the historic buildings at that time.

It indeed is great architecture and amazing how people could build this in the medieval and it still stands unlike the modern build houses/shops. I believe I saw it before. Can be it was @ibesso showing it although the city is rich of architecture.

Can you tell me why you picked this one?

#miner-wewrite #wewrite

Can you tell me why you picked this one?

Well, I have been checking the same website that you did. I was going through different artists and checking their work. I do not have a particular reason why I picked this one over any other. Except the fact that, it stood out amongst the other works while I was looking around. That is the only reason why I have picked to write about it.

Should I say something about this picture? I mean, a story is coming to my mind after seeing this picture. I want to turn this picture into a fiction, away from reality.
Seeing this picture, I feel as if some people are stuck on an island and while searching for a way out, they find a secret treasure. And in search of this treasure, everyone is trying to reach this treasure first.
In their curiosity to know the secret of the treasure, they forget that more than finding the treasure, they had to find a way out of the island. Because animals, not humans, lived on this island. But they all forget this and fall into the greed of the treasure and put their lives in danger.
Some people even lose their lives, but others don't care about it, but only try to find the treasure, so that they can reach it before others and become the owner of it.

I have described in my own words what I saw and what I felt. I do not know the truth of this painting, but I have described what came to my mind after seeing this picture.

No, you should share your own piece of art but what you described is interesting. Good food for the mind. 😁

This is interesting.

It is an interesting one. I am still looking for an art to review. =P

how about a statue?
