**BEWARE** A fake metamask extension on chrome web store
guys, I just want to mention something I notice when I research for Metamask extension on Google Chrome Browser.
The Chrome web store shows up two extensions, an orange one, and a yellow one. it doesn't take much of time to detect the fake one.
MetaMask mostly knew as an extension that host RC20 token wallet.
Rate
the real extension has 4.09/5 rate given by 645 users and a total of 946,375 users ( almost 1 million users).
the fake one has 24 users and no rate because it been added just recently ( 7/2/2018).
The size
the real: has a size of 3.23 MB.
the fake: has a size of 22.9 kb.
Website
you can read above the title that the real extension offered by MetaMask official website https://metamask.io and it's also included in the extension page with the Github page. The fake one doesn't provide any website or coding page.
The version and the language
you can notice the availability of 6 languages in the real extension page but the fake has only English. Also when it comes to the version, the real one is 3.14.1 updated on 1/2/2018 and the fake is 3.1 updated on 7/2/2018 ( date of adding).
How to avoid being scammed in the future
to avoid the scam and the phishing in the future, you should use the Meta mask official website where you can find multiple extension for a differents browsers, and you must follow them on the social media to know any update's about changing the website domain to keep away from phishing pages.
