Bitcoin Pizza Day May 22nd
Bitcoin Pizza Day
In the early days of Bitcoin, the first known purchase was made in 2010. The transaction was made by Laszlo Hanyecz, and he used 10,000 BTC which at the time was worth roughly $25, to purchase two pizzas.
To commemorate the transaction, May 22 is dubbed Bitcoin Pizza Day. Pizza providers worldwide offer discounts to bitcoin users to commemorate Laszlo's purchase.
Nowadays 10,000 BTC would be worth $149,010,050.00 and those two pizzas would cost the sum of 0.0027 Bitcoins. This is an illustration of buying power with an appreciating asset as opposed to a depreciating asset such as the US Dollar.
