INTRODUCTION

Life is short, and you only live once. These two clauses are very thought provoking and if you really understand it well, you would never joke with your health. Good health is an everyday thing and you have to live it well. Good health has an immersed contribution towards our productivity as a nation and the world at large. As a result, anything relating to our health must be taken very serious. I’m sure most of you readers might have heard about cannabis before; unless of course you do not know that it is the same as marijuana. This great plant has a lot of potential medical benefits which can be used to treat many life threatening conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, crohn’s disease, glaucoma, pain and many others. Even some mental health conditions like schizophrenia, epilepsy and post-traumatic stress disorder have also proven to respond well to medical cannabis.

CURRENT SITUATION

One would ask, so if cannabis (marijuana) has all these tremendous effectives, why hasn’t more research being done and the various national Food and Drugs Authorities reluctant to legalize it in our countries to tap these benefits? Cannabis is considered as a schedule I drug, same as heroin and other abusive drugs, as a result, Food and Drugs Authorities find it difficult legalizing it; with the fear that people would be abusing it for the ‘high’ side effect, without any medical value. Currently, very few countries have legalized the use of medical cannabis and some too have legalized its restrictive use. There are still many other countries in the world who are against it and people who want to research and dive deeper into it need a special license to do so. As a result, the enthusiasm is not there and people would rather channel their resources into other medical fields. A renowned substance abuse specialist, Bonn-Millers, PhD, suggests that, research is critically needed because health professionals have to be able to advise their clients on the safe and effective use of cannabis. This and many other reasons is what gave rise to this revolutionized project known as MEDK.

WHAT IS MEDK

MEDK is a blockchain-based medical cannabis project which is envisioned to revolutionized the growing, processing and legalization of medical cannabis. We aim to apply for a license to acquire a legal backing to produce medical cannabis and also raise funds through our ICO to support medical research in this field. We intend to establish a greenhouse cannabis in an ecosystem which is in accordance with the European Union standards.
