The beginning of a year-long mission to change the way I've been living.
Most days I'm wrapped up in the day to day grind of continuation and forget to live outside of my regular habits. Which I don't have a good excuse for why I do this, yet since the beginning of this grand year of 2018, I’ve been absolutely determined to get out of my comfort zone, especially that of which is my house. 😊 So I took the liberty to find some different adventures for this year including some festivals that will bring me closer to gaining back peace of mind within myself and some experiences that will help me branch out as an individual.
I want to start this with something I have always wanted to try, Thai.
That’s right, I have never had Thai.
So I am sharing my experience at a local Thai place my boyfriend wanted to try out as he is a big fan of Thai food.
However, we had not anticipated it being a very intimate evening with just us two, the wonderful waitress and the cooks. It felt like we were super important and someone rolled out a red carpet so we could wine and dine together secluded from the rest of the world to enjoy a private dinner as the world continued without us for a moment (especially the few times Uber Eats showed up for pickup orders). 😉
Since this is the first time trying Thai food, I figured it would be better to not over think what I was ordering because that leads to my typical comfort choices, so I actually let my boyfriend order because I had more faith in him to know what I may or may not like. Below were the final options.
Spicey Thom Yum to start (below)
I should say; fish broth is not my favorite kind of broth. To be honest, and this shouldn’t be a surprise... I’m not a fan of fish (<<Picky eater little by little I will get past my many picky ways but not today). It was extremely hard to swallow this down..sadly to say I did not make it very far. Not to say it wasn't good, it just wasn't good for me.
We also ordered Cau-Pad w/Mooh, Gai, Nuer and Goung and an order of Pad-Thai which… the first one mentioned is a fried rice with chicken, pork, beef, and shrimp. The second dish was sautéed rice noodles with chicken, shrimp and bean sprouts sprinkled with ground peanuts.
I truly enjoyed the fried rice, so much I actually looked forward to the left-overs (minus any parts of the shrimp, which I did regretfully eat for the first time as well that's going to be a hard one to sell in the future ). The second dish was not my favorite but it was something I would be willing to eat again. All of it was worth trying. The experience of trying something I've never had the pleasure to try was
After chowing down on some Thai a great new addition for dinner options, I have to say I'm disappointed it took me this long to finally try Thai. All in all, I feel like I have finally grasped what it means to enjoy life outside of American societies limited options for food that doesn't resemble every other McDonald's.
I received the top fortune and my boyfriends is the bottom one.
I do truly believe that one day soon my man will be sitting on top of the world. Whether or not I believe God looks over me or some other special being, I do feel very blessed.
