Chess Needs a Place in Schools

in #chess7 years ago

Chess is a cerebral game that is played by millions of users of all age groups all over the world. Playing chess means, increasing your various core skills like concentration, foresight, patience, problem-solving and intellectual skills like math and music. But this has been a matter of debate that whether chess should be introduced into primary schools or not. Well! There are more pros than cons. Schools are actually about molding a child into a well-rounded personality so that they can succeed later in life not only in terms of academics but overall as a person also. The game is highly prevalent in few schools but there are still many schools that don’t prefer to offer it to pupils considering it wastage of time. But as per the researchers, the game is highly intellectual and can dramatically expand pupils’ levels of attention, enhance problem-solving skills and improve their thought methods. Therefore, Chess does deserve a place in schools and can be taught as a subject so that they can learn how to play the game and how to develop the thinking and problem-solving skills through chess.

It’s not just about kings, queens, rooks etc. it’s about lines and angles, it’s about the strategies, decision making and coordinating. From the ample of benefits of playing chess, the foremost one is that students learn how to make strategies to excel in something. Apart from this, the game also enhances the numeracy levels with knock-on remunerations.

If students are made to learn chess from the professional coaches, it can prove to be fruitful for them in their later life as well. If not a mandatory subject, students should be given a few timetabled lessons about chess that will eventually make them mentally and emotionally stable and strong.
Cheers to Chess!
