English news:

Protesters and police clash in Hong Kong after peaceful march

"more than a hundred police officers in riot gear suddenly appeared at 8.10. Police went on to several streets and footbridges, apparently looking for protesters"

--- "Dammit! Where are these evil protesters attacking the police? Find someone to attack you! Didn't find one? Search harder! Roam the streets until you find someone to attack you!"
For videos of the protests, see below.

‘We’re Almost Extinct’: China’s Investigative Journalists Are Silenced Under Xi

"the Chinese press is now almost entirely devoid of critical reporting, filled instead with upbeat portrayals of life in China under Mr. Xi"

--- Well, of course. Life in China is wonderful. China is heaven on earth. China's emperor Xi is so full of benevolence, he's almost exploding of it. Minorities are sent ... er ... allowed to attend education centres for free. Han Chinese are allowed to earn & spend as much as they can. Everybody is prohi ... er ... allowed to live a life free of political thought. What could be better?

China and Vietnam in stand-off over Chinese survey ship mission to disputed reef in South China Sea

"The stand-off emerged despite a pledge in May by Chinese and Vietnamese defence ministers to settle maritime disputes by negotiation."

--- But, you see, there is no dispute. China is right, as always, & Vietnam has to back off. All of the South China Sea (& tomorrow the whole world) belongs to China. Hence no negotiations needed. Simple (Chinese) logic.

Trump’s Iran Strategy Is Helping China

"Chinese trade and investment in energy and infrastructure are poised to fill the void left by European withdrawal."

--- Maybe. Not sure, though. If Chinese companies also want to do business with the US, they'll probably avoid Iran, because they don't want to have similar problems to Huawei. Then again, Chinese businesses are known to avoid boycotts & blockades. So some might try to find ways around sanctions.

Saudi Arabia and Russia among 37 states backing China's Xinjiang policy

"As well as Saudi Arabia and Russia, the letter was signed by ambassadors from many African countries, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Belarus, Myanmar, the Philippines, Syria, Pakistan, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain."

--- Human rights champions, the lot. At least that shows quite clearly who is already in cahoots with China.

China vows to impose sanctions on US firms supplying Taiwan military

"China’s foreign ministry spokesman, Geng Shuang, said the US arms sale constituted “a serious violation of international law and the basic norms governing international relations”."

--- & China definitely knows how to violate international law & norms governing international relations. Just look at the South China Sea.

China's June exports fall after US tariff hike, imports shrink

"China's trade surplus with the United States, a major source of friction with its biggest trading partner, rose to $29.92bn in June from $26.9bn in May."

--- The numbers are growing. Trump would probably call that a great success for him.

Deutsche Nachrichten:
