Left 左 zuǒ
Right 右 yòu
Side 边 biān
(Remember 在 zài is location – 在 zài + direction)
At the left/right side 在左边/在右边 zài zuǒ biān / zài yòu biān
This side 这边 zhè biān
That side 那边 nà biān
Next to / beside 在..(的)旁边 zài … (de) páng biān
Walk/Go 走 zǒu
Let’s go! 走！zǒu!
Keep doing something 一直 yìzhí
Keep going (it’s) on the right 一直走，在右边 yìzhí zǒu, zài yòu biān
Street 街 jiē
Across the street 街对面 jiē duì miàn
Road 路 lù
Across the road 路(的)对面 lù (de) duì miàn
Hotel 宾馆 bīn guǎn
Hospital 医院 yī yuàn
Police station 警察局 jǐngchá jú
School 学校 xuéxiào
Restroom 洗手间 xǐshǒu jiān
Train station 火车站 huǒchē zhàn
(Remember 在 zài is location – noun + 在 zài + direction)
Where is the hotel? 宾馆在哪里？bīn guǎn zài nǎlǐ?
The school is there? 学校在那里吗？xuéxiào zài nàlǐ ma?
Where is the restroom? 洗手间在哪里？ xǐshǒu jiān zài nǎlǐ?
The restroom is on the right. 洗手间在右边 xǐshǒu jiān zài yòu biān
Where is the restaurant? 餐馆在哪里？cān guǎn zaì nǎ lǐ?
Keep going (it’s) on the left. 一直走，在左边 yìzhí zǒu. zài zuǒbiān.
Where is my hotel? 我的宾馆在哪里？wǒ de bīn guǎn zài nǎ lǐ?
Your hotel is next to the police station. 你的宾馆在警察局旁边 nǐde bīn guǎn zài jǐngchá jú páng biān.
Where is the school? 学校在哪里？xuéxiào zài nǎlǐ?
The school is across the street next to the hospital. 学校在街对面，医院旁边 xuéxiào zài jiē duìmiàn, yīyuàn pángbiān.
East 东 dōng
West 西 xī
South 南 nán
North 北 běi
City 城市 chéngshì
Province 省 shěng
The hospital is north of the city 医院在城市北边 yīyuàn zài chéngshì běibiān
The school is East of the province 学校在省东边 xuéxiào zài shěng dōngbiān
To go 去 qù
Where are you going? 你(要)去哪里？ nǐ (yào) qù nǎlǐ?
I’m going to the school. 我(要)去学校 wǒ (yào) qù xuéxiào.
Where are they going? 他们去哪里？tāmen qù nǎlǐ?
They are going to the supermarket. 他们去超市 tāmen qù chāoshì
Where are you all going? 你们去哪里？nǐmen qù nǎlǐ?
We are going to the restaurant. Do you want to go? 我们去餐馆，你要去吗？wǒmen qù cān guǎn, nǐ yào qù ma?
Yes. Where is the restaurant? 好, 餐馆在哪里？hǎo, cān guǎn zài nǎlǐ?
The restaurant is west of the school. 餐馆在学校西边。cān guǎn zài xué xiào xī biān.
Next to the supermarket? 超市旁边吗？ chāo shì páng biān ma?
Across from the supermarket next to the train station. 超市对面，火车站旁边 chāoshì duìmiàn, huǒchēzhàn pángbiān.
