COSMIC MEANDERINGS: On Separation
The thing that keeps coming up while listening to or reading books about spirit, like The Masters of the Far East, is that if the problem with man not knowing his true nature is that he separated himself away from the higher realm, spirit world, the one consciousness – or whatever you want to call it – then why did man do that in the first place?? What would have possessed him to do that if he was from the “One”? Wouldn’t it have had to be a function of the One to have brought that about to begin with? How could man do that on his own if he were a knowing part of the Oneness. Why would he have done that? Seems to me it would have had to serve the One in some way or that would never have entered into thought.
Good question.
What I think is that from an absolute perspective everything is perfect. The absolute allows infinite possibilities and one of the infinite possibilities is our delusion which caused the separation from our true nature. In reality there is no separation, it is an illusion, a self-created illusion causing suffering. The delusion of an independent self or "I" is the creator of suffering. And the absence of a belief in a fake independent self or "I" is freedom and liberation.
Redgaruda, you are right on point (it is an illusion). Campbell in" My Big Toe" goes into depth on this subject about the nature of what we call reality. He says that it is a digital data stream of which our new virtual reality developments are a fractal. The new technology virtual reality games are built on the same principals as this reality that we have learned to love. PS. His conclusion is that the PURPOSE for us being in this illusion is that this reality stream gives us greater resistance or consequences of our thoughts and actions than the non physical matter reality that we can access in our dreams and imaginings which gives us an opportunity to lower our entropy and become more loving. You might like my post "Dragon Slaying" which just went up which touches on this area a bit.
Hi @vric, I'll definitely check out your article when I have time, greetings!
I completely agree with what you've said. How can the absolute limit anything? I am curious, though, how/when mankind bought into the separation. Were we fully aware at the time of what we were agreeing to? I suppose, just like when one starts out playing a virtual reality game, you aren't fully aware of what your avatar might run into, we get into this game to have this particular experience (in this earthly reality) fully aware that we will run into things we hadn't predicted.
Sorry, just now I saw your reply.
This is a very difficult topic and how things really happened we don't know.
In my personal opinion/belief we might have circled in delusion since a very long, long time in many, many forms.
Delusion is obviously also present in animals and also other beings we might not see. So I don't think it is a collective human problem but a problem of beings in general.
The good thing is we know something about how to get out of this situation again and I think if somebody has really longing for union again there will be guidance in many ways.
Thank you for bringing up this profound topic!
I like what you said redgaruda. We definitely are run by our own intent.
Sarac, There are very good questions you have raised. a good book that explores these questions is "My Big Toe" by Thomas Campbell. In my own summary of his ideas, Mr. Campbell explains that there is a larger consciousness of which each of us is an individuated unit. The purpose of separating out this unit is so that it can evolve it's own consciousness in this virtual reality which will add to the expansion or evolution of the greater consciousness.
Yes, I'm aware of that book. Thanks.
