Main that's a pretty bold statement. Coinbase is a great way for the average person to begin an investment in crypto. I would debate this was the first usable entry point into crypto. I'm not saying there perfect but certainly not the enemy as they are helping democratize Bitcoin and other Digital Assets.
I agree coinbase is good for beginners but only if you use gdax along side of it to purchase and sell and coinbase to hold and store or transfer this way you avoid fees and can set limit buys for when markets have a quick dip or pop.

Honestly, you'd benefit by learning how to hold, control, and protect your private keys yourself.

For myself I have personal wallets to distribute risk. I haven't done Bitshares quite yet. RK keeps on talking to me about that.
They also took people's BCC/BCH. And their ethos doesn't align with the ethos of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general.
Sure, they may provide a great (mediocre) "in," for the layman, but they're also snaring the layman.
I think it benefits people at large to join meetups to acquire, learn, and share knowledge about cryptocurrency.

LOL! Everyone will get there BCC/BCH in time from Coinbase. Let's be honest that the the spirit of crypto is changing quick as major investors, government and banks are in the game and keeping a close eye on the market. They always will go where the money is.
I don't see it as an us versus them. We will all win together in this game.

I sure hope you're right, though. I personally don't use coinbase (mined many moons ago in a land far away) but I've had to deal with a lot of tears from disgruntled/disheartened folks yearning for their BCash.

Yeah I can understand that. Just setup a 42 GPU mining rig. Learned from my experience that it is better to invest in the asset then mine. LOL I need to write a post about it.
