Mining Shift
By now everyone has seen the news on China's moves to more strictly regulated the cryptocurrency mining world. I mentioned in a previous post that this would open up opportunities to other areas looking to capitalize on the mining industry. One such place seeing increased interest is Quebec, Canada. Quebec has the perfect climate, cheap electricity and a stable government. The cool northern temperatures mean less cooling power is needed. The hydroelectric power, a staple in the area since the 50's, offers the affordable power that attracted people to the very regions in China that are now the potential targets of the Chinese government for strict mining regulation. Lastly, who can beat the a place with the likes of Justin Trudeau at the helm for a great place to do business. For more information on this development and on how Canada infrastructure is going to meet the increased demand see this article on how Quebec is Luring Cryptocurrency Miners as China Sours on the Industry.
Also, on the subject of mining, Bitmain, the cryptocurrency mining machine maker based in China, is branching out to Switzerland. Bitmain just set up a subsidiary there. Isn't it great to live in a globalized world, where one countries unfair practices turn into another countries advantage!
