As Teachers, there are times we need to regain class control or our pupils/students control us. Losing class control typically happens because:
A. Something in the class doesn't speak to the students, or
B. Some areas in the classroom management needs Reinforcing.

By regaining class control show that you in authority as the classroom manager. To help you teach effectively, here are great strategies that could be very useful.

  1. Stop the lesson, this is not a sign that you are weak. Observe your class, listen to your teacher intuition & discover where you need changes, ask yourself: what is happening?
What needs to be changed about this class/approach/topic?to much explanation is most time not needed, you can teach more intuitively.

  2. Sitting arrangement should be considered. Disruptive pupils/students who have been sitting together may need to be separated, so rearrange from time to time.

  3. Use body language. let pupils know how you intend to bring them to order. It could be eye contact, raising your hand in the air, a clap or even a small bell you can jingle to make them realize that their behaviour is the reason why you can't teach.

  4. Pep talk. Calmly share your frustration briefly with pupils/students & the consequences of not doing what you require of them would affect them on the long run & how its making it extremely hard for you to teach.

  5. Be consistent with all of the above.

  6. Be confident, children are smart and take advantage of the situation if they sense you are loosing control.

  7. Lead by example. If you want to be in control of your class always, then avoid the following
    a. Do not use your phone in Class.
    b. Don't interrupt them when they are talking.
    c. Don't walk pass them or get up when they ask you questions.

Try all the above and see you regain control in your class.....
