Do you like the taste of apple pie?
I used to made old fashioned apple pie, but this time i tried it in a different way with a very tasty and lovely rose shape.

It may looks difficult to make i may take some time with shaping the roses but it worth every single moments, the result were incredibly awesome not only the shape but also the taste.

Every single bite will take you to another world, the yummy pastry crust filled with homemade apple puree and the sweet apple roses all these made a perfect pie with my cup of tea.

Prep time: 40 mins
yield: 3 mini tart
Baking time: 40 mins

Ingredients:

For Pastry Crust:

2 cups flour
150g unsalted butter(room temperature)
1 egg
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt

For filling:

2 Large apple
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp lemon juice

For apple rose:

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 cup water
4 large red apples

The way:

  • For crust: In a bowl mix all the ingredients together until you have a crumbled dough. Gather it in a plastic wrap as a ball, refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the apple puree, peel of apple and cut it into medium dices cook on steam for 10 minutes. Blend apple with cinnamon and sugar until you have a puree, set a side.
  • Cut the dough into 3 equal balls, spread each dough with a roller, place it in a 12 cm removable bottom tart pan, lightly prick bottom of pastry crust with the tines of a fork
  • Fill the pastry crust with apple puree.
  • Bake at 180°c for 20 minutes.
  • Cut apple into a very thin slices, i used the vegetable slicer (mandolin) it gave a perfect result.
  • In a suacepan pour water add sugar and limon juice, bring to a boil. Place the apple slices into the syrup, set a side for 10 minutes.
  • Drying apple slices from water, assemble the rose; 5 apple slices at a time roll it as a rose shape.
  • Row the apple roses in the tart crust, bake for another 20 - 25 minutes at 170°C.
  • Sprinkle confectioners sugar, for more decoration.
    Serve it warm or cold.
    Enjoy!
