Is a 72 in Metacritic a stumble for Days Gone?steemCreated with Sketch.

The PS4 video game has been released with great sales but with some criticisms that perhaps were not expected by Sony.

A few days ago the long-awaited Days Gone, an exclusive PS4 videogame that is the big claim of the catalog for the Sony console in the first quarter of this year went on sale. How was it? If you have consulted some analyzes of Days Gone you will already know what is the opinion on the title of Sony Bend Studio, but what is clear is that with a 72 in Metacritic the evaluation of the game is something far from what have been the last exclusive of the game console.

Are we going crazy? Are you being too demanding? Can we consider it a stumble to have a rating of 72 in Metacritic?

YES

Dear Steemer, I am going to propose a trip to your adolescence. Do you think it's OK? Remember that math test that you returned corrected and in which you discovered with surprise that you had taken a 7. As you are from grades you took all year getting approved scrapes, and on that occasion you reached the remarkable. A 7, finally! You were so distracted mentally celebrating that 7, that only the sobs of the girl who sat behind you made you turn around and pay attention.

  • Why are you crying ?, you asked.

  • She answered quickly and loudly. Because I have taken a 7!

  • But I have also taken a 7 and I am happy!

  • Ya, if the seven is a good grade; she replied disconsolately. But I've been taking nine and ten all year!

Look, mate. It's all a matter of perspective: God of War, 94 from Metascore. Marvel's Spider-Man, 87. Bloodborne, 92. Uncharted 4, 93. The remake of Shadow of the Colossus, 91. Person 5, 93 ... Days Gone? 72. It is not a bad grade? Of course not. It is the score of a title that, although it has problems (many, and I do not mean the bugs in which everyone seems to be focused on social networks), it does not stop being a good videogame, which is precisely what It's Deacon St. John's adventure. Because if it were not, it would have less score. And the pulse has not shaken us to condemn to great exclusive productions of this generation like Crackdown 3, The Order: 1886, Ryse: Son of Rome and so many others. Because people say that the press notes are distorted because they never put less than an 8 to an AAA; but every time we do it, and it happens often in each generation, the staff takes their hands to the head because the game that is "does not deserve that mistreatment".

So no, I'm not saying that 72 Metacritic for the game is a resounding failure, not even a moderate failure. In fact, Days Gone is selling very well, and I am very happy because, although I do not go crazy, I recognize that it is a work made with love and I have spent good times with it. But it seems to me that, coming from where we come from, to the level that we have been accustomed to from Sony with its exclusives in recent years, and seeing its huge production values ... that note is a stumble, friend, you put on as you put.

Because Ronaldo is not going to make hat-tricks all the games, there are nights when he does not score, he does not assist, nor is he decisive on the scoreboard; but even so it leaves you a couple of dribbles that put the crowd on their feet, a free-kick on the post and a disallowed goal. In the qualification of the newspaper of the following day it takes a 7. And it is worth having paid the entrance to see it, because a meeting of first division qualified with a 7 would be the best of the career of 99% of the world's soccer players, But perhaps a Ronaldo 7 match is precisely that: "only" a good match for the portuguese player. Do you know what Days Gone is? "Solo" a good game of Sony between a catalog for PS4 of authentic colossuses. And that, there should be no problem in recognizing it.

NO

It would be absurd to deny that Days Gone has been below expectations. In recent years Sony has badly used us with video games that mostly achieve excellence but ... a stumble? I think we're taking the issue of the notes too far. Everyone. Press and players. In the end, the debate always revolves around the shining number, not the message, the sensations, your own impressions. I understand that if you read a review of a videogame with a suspense, obviously you will not have much desire to buy the game, but a 7.5 is like to throw your hands to your head? It has not reached the excellence of others, okay, but it's still a good video game that offers just what you expect from it: zombie action in a vast open world.

This case reminds me a little of Sea of Thieves, another of those titles that had generated great excitement and ended up receiving a 7 in the specialized pages. Notice that it was already said that it was a videogame with potential to grow and show its best face, as it has ended up showing over the months, but the speech was already built. "It's a failure", "Rare is dead", "go video game garbage" and a long etcetera. There are nuances, because one is a game as a service and the other an adventure that in principle has already shown what it had to show, but hey, you yourself reaffirm that it is a work that you can enjoy, with which you can spend it very well. Is not that what we all seek?

Ronaldo there is only one, is unique, as masterpieces are what they are. Some are closer to glory, others less, but we can not expect all games to reach that level of excellence. And nothing happens! In the end, the important thing is that they are good, that they are developed with passion and that they know how to have fun. Things that I think has in its DNA this Days Gone of PS4. The worst, and I finish, is that in the end this debate affects us all. Players have positioned themselves in the role of criticizing any note: if it is an 8 it is the usual, if it is less, it deserved an 8, and if it is more, it is that you are bought and another game, your favorite, deserved a better score. And the press the same. It is a subject that exhausts and that certainly discourages. The analyzes are battlefields and we forget the most important thing. Here you come to have fun.

The debate is set. What do you think?
