Placing personal photos on a map is something that has existed since Panoramio began its wanderings more than 10 years ago, before being part of Google, however, Google Earth has always been more unidirectional: we enjoy the content, but we do not collaborate with it.

This is likely to change soon, as Google has confirmed that they are preparing collaboration functions within the platform.

The aim of the new version is to offer users the ability to put videos, photos and texts in regions visited, so that anyone can view photos taken by satellite and view content posted by users around the world.

According to Reuters : Alphabet wants thousands of stories, videos and photos to be published on its Google Earth platform to extend the possibilities of the Voyager tool to have interactive publications of destinations of all kinds.

Regular users will be able to create their own content without editing, for private or public use, without the need for something professional. It can be a family history captured with the mobile, and at any moment we can decide to publish or not.

It is worth mentioning that, who wants, can continue using the system in the same way that is used today.

According to Google, the goal is not to make money with Google Earth : "It's just a gift to the world."
