Vaccine Rights up for Grabs in Ohio HB512
Ohio HB512, currently assigned to the Government Accountability and Oversight committee, is a MASSIVE grab for control over Ohio's youth. It seeks to remove ALL regulatory control from elected officials and transfer them to a newly created Department of Learning and Achievement. This is a mega-agency which will control education policy “from cradle to career” without any input from the People of Ohio.
What does this have to do with Vaccines?
Donna Kazee from Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom testified in opposition to this bill on Wednesday, March 7th. (full testimony available on the committee's website http://www.ohiohouse.gov/committee/government-accountability-and-oversight) She states: “Even though vaccination exemption wording is still included, we are unsure where the authority for such exemptions would reside and how exemptions might be changed without public input or even knowledge”
This is where things get a little complicated. Yes, the current vaccine exemption language is still included, but with one major change. Lines 13366 to 13369
(Bold is removed, brackets is added)
Requiring immunization and compliance with emergency medical authorization requirements in accordance with rules adopted by the state board of education (department of learning and achievement) under section 3301.53 of the Revised Code;
(This is the section for K-12, a similar section for PreK is located on Lines 13087 to 13090)
If the Governor appoints someone who does not value the right's of parents to direct their children's medical care in regards to Vaccines? The DLA, and by extension the Governor's appointee, will have the authority to immediately change the rules regarding immunizations and there is nothing that We the People can do about it.
Don't allow our rights to be turned over to the Governor for their use as a political pawn. Please contact members of the Government Accountability and Oversight committee as well as your Representative and ask them to oppose HB512.
