Herbs and Foods for Cleansing the Lympahtic Systems and Helping to Reduce Cellulite

in #healing7 years ago (edited)

Cellulite may be the result of improper lymph circulation and elimination, which leads to a build-up of toxins in the system. When these impurities lodge in the tissues of the skin, it results in a lumpy look.

If the body’s organs and systems are cleansed through nutrition, their proper functioning can be restored, leading to long term positive changes in the appearance of the skin. There are simple ways that this can be done and an easy and inexpensive home treatment can provide immediate improvements even after the first application.

The underlying cause of a malfunctioning lymphatic system must be properly addressed. According to Hanna Kroeger in “Heal Your Life with Home Remedies and Herbs,” the lymphatic system can be cleansed in seven days by consuming “four or five cups of cucumber juice a day,” She also recommends one banana per day to keep the lymphatic system healthy.

The following is an old folk remedy used to maintain a healthy lymphatic system: Make a tea using one or two teaspoons of dried cleavers. Allow it to steep for five minutes in water that has been brought to a furious boil. Drink this tea twice per day.

Connective tissue can be damaged by the accumulation of toxins in the system. Help to reduce cellulite by adding connective tissue-supporting supplements to your diet with glucosamine and chondroitin sulfates, hyaluronic acid, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), and collagen. These supplements aide in overall connective tissue health.

Gotu kola is another powerful supplement that improves the problem of cellulite by facilitating the repair of connective tissue. It also helps to increase circulation.

The following treatment provides visible improvements to areas of the skin affected by cellulite after just one application. It will moisturize, exfoliate the skin and improve circulation.

Items required: A cup of used coffee grounds, a half cup of olive oil, a bowl to mix the ingredients in, a roll of plastic wrap, paper towels and a waste basket.

The coffee grounds can create a clean-up problem if they are not contained. The best place to conduct this treatment is in the bath tub. In the bowl, mix the coffe grounds with the olive oil. Slightly warming the olive oil enhances penetration. Apply this mixture to the affected area. Then carefully wrap it with the plastic wrap.

Wait thirty minutes. Then, carefully remove the plastic. Use the paper towels to clean off most of the coffee grounds and to wipe up the inside of the tub. Try not to let too many grounds go down the drain in order to avoid a clog.

Moisturize right after a bath or shower. Use products that contain vitamin E, collagen, elastin, shea butter and similar ingredients. Avoid those that contain artificial chemicals. Many of these products actually dry the skin over a long period of use and may contribute to the skin’s toxicity.

Keep the body hydrated, not only to keep the skin smooth and supple and reduce the appearance of cellulite, but to help the body properly eliminate toxic waste. Drink, at least, six to eight glasses of filtered or distilled water that is free of contaminants. Do not drink tap water because it usually contains toxic chemicals. Bathe and shower in filtered water whenever that is possible.

An important note about this article: I originally published this article on June 9, 2009 on a now defunct content site. I still think the article contains some good information about lymphatic cleansing, especially the recommendations from Hanna Kroeger's book. In fact, I cannot recommend that book enough; its one of the best books in my library and it includes more information on the subject. But, if your particular concern is cellulite, I have recently learned of something that really works, which is also very cheap to do and you can do it in the privacy of your own home. It also helps with detoxification and lymph drainage, and it brings very noticeable, long-lasting results. But, I did not come up with the idea. Someone else did and she has been working very hard to help people, so I'm going to help her help some people in the next post.
