I'm glad you found this post educative. It's surprising how little we wonder and pay attention to aspects of our life that we got used to very early in life or that are omnipresent.
Last time I had my mind blown was when I realised that the Wall between Western und Eastern Germany was not just running from North to South, but was completely encircling West Berlin. I never put much thought into understanding where the borders were and how they were separating Western from Eastern Germany. I felt ashamed :-)
