The WORMWOOD Herb | Functions and Side effects .

Name: Wormwood
Scientific name: Artemisia absinthium.

Higher classification : Mugworts
Wormwood is a bitter herb found in Eurasia, North Africa and North America. This herb is more effective than chemotherapy for breast cancer.

Basic uses of wormwood includes :

• Treatment of anorexia, insomnia, anemia, lack of appetite, flatulence, stomach aches, jaundice and indigestion.
  It beats malaria, kills cancer cells.

Wormwood herb has an essential oil extracted from the leaves and flowering tops by steam distillation. One of the essential oil of wormwood found that it contains at least 28 components representing 93.3% of oil.

    The main components are Beta-pinene (23.8%) and Beta-thujone (18.6%). Thujone is the potentially poisonous chemical found in wormwood. The use of wormwood as a medical herb should not exceed four(4) weeks. Because of thujone found in this herb.

Excess use can cause stomach ache, vomiting, dizziness, nerve damage etc. Pregnant women should totally avoid this plant.
