Today i am going to discuss a very important and widely
consumed grain called maize which is also popularly
called corn.

Understanding what is Corn and its Origin

Maize found its origin from mexico and since then, it
has widely been grown all over the world.
According to naturalfoodseries, Maize grew from the
older species to new and modern once. Modern corn
is the descendant of corn, that was planted and
cultivated by the Aztecs about 10,000 years ago.
That the origin of the modern corn was from a wild
grass called teosinte and that also, the first maize’s
that grew did not have the uniformity of the modern
corn.

Parts of Corn or Maize

Corn has different parts, which can also be used
for different purposes.
The first part is the green like back that is always
pealed off. The second part is the kernel or cob
which is the edible part and the third part is the
hard part which is always attached to the edible
part of the corn or maize.

Variety of Maize or Corn

Maize come in different varieties and colors and this
took place after the modern specie was found.
The DNA of the corn was improved and this gave
birth to different types and colors of corns ranging
from white to purple and even black colors of corn.

There are different benefits of corn which includes
but a few; flint, dent, sweet, and popcorn.

Some Health Benefits of Corn

Aside the delicious aroma and its sweetness, maize
has its health benefits which includes.

Increase Weight Gain

One of the benefits of maize is its ability to increase
the weight capacity of an individual because of its
calories content. The content of calories in maize is
high that it can increase the weight of an individual.

Contains Fiber

Fiber is a very important part that maize plays and
important roll. The fiber content helps by reducing
cholesterol and making the digestive system more
efficient. This makes the body to work effectively
and stay longer than expected.

Conclusion

Corn or Maize has very high nutritional value.
This is due to its high content in various minerals and
vitamins which makes it and important grain in our
world today. Corn can be eaten or taken in various
ways, either by boiling it or by roasting it or by eating
it as popcorn. Which ever way, it still gives the same
value.
