DUTCH TROOPS KILL HUNDREDS OF ACHINESE

AMSTERDAM, April 3. The Dutch troops in northern Sumatra, lately engaged an intrenched body of Achinese, killing 541. The Dutch lost three killed and twenty-five wounded.
On August 1,. 1903, .telegrams were sent from Holland announcing that the Dutch troops had fought a severe battle which resulted in the complete over throw 61 the Achinese rebellion. The Achinese, a people numbering nearly two millions live in the northern part, of Sumatra and have been at war with the Dutch government for over thirty years.
Although time and again it has been announced that the Achinese have "given up the struggle a battle, in which the Achinese make a good showing, usually follows.
The Dutch war with the Achinese has already cost Holland over $200,000,000.
