BrotherCrypt's Introduction, The Cryptonut from London Who Likes Financial Independence & Travelling

Welcome to BrotherCrypt's Introduction

Was sup ladies, gents, niggas and bitches!

I go by Brother Crypt, I guess Crypt is short for Crypto. I write this post to introduce myself to the community and say ‘hello’. As my name dictates and like many of you here I’m a self confessed Cryptocurrency enthusiast and altcoin investing bordering nut.

A little about me

I live in London and have 3 companies, the first deals in property investments and property management. I’ve been doing this business for about 5 years and this business has given my wife @CryptoWitch and I the freedom to work from home, pay ourselves well and live a comfortable life, on our own terms without reporting to a boss!

I’ve always had a desire to have my own business and be independent, however things only clicked and the vision for financial freedom and a clear path to attain it came after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.

My second company is an ecommerce company which produces kitchen utensils, we sell via Amazon & eBay in the US, UK and Europe. This company is just over 2 years old and is successful, but I’m not passionate about it. I started this company after doing the Amazing Selling Machine course which is now called Amazing.com.

What peaked my interest about the course and the business model, was learning how to create a product from scratch, find suppliers, market it and have a business with the ability to sell in different countries, plus I was trained on how to do this without the need to employ staff or have a warehouse, Amazon do all the stock control warehousing and fulfillment!

Some of the products from my second company, which is around 2 years old

In the last financial year 2016, this company turned over 6 figures, which I’m proud of but I worked my butt off for the best part of 2016 and just before my birthday celebrated in Jamaica, I realised the time spend was not proportional to the income I expected but also the feeling of self created stress from working myself so hard, I felt I had to work in my second business 10 – 12 hours per day for a product brand line that I wasn’t never really passionate about. Don’t get me wrong the idea of private labeling or crating your own product brand and selling it with eCommerce is great and I loved this business model as in some way small businesses get to equally compete with the big manufactures, like Kitchen Aid which is one of my competitors. The lesson for me was to never invest my time and energy into a business opportunity or more specifically, a product that I’m not passionate about.

In September last year on my Jamaica holiday I realised this and started taking my foot off the gas, with a view point to reduce the amount of time I spend in this business and eliminate the not so successful products we sell. I’ll still keep this baby but spend less than 1 – 2 hours per day.

Rewind, let me take you back further. Prior to setting up and starting our property company, I was a stressed Test Manager Consultant, for globally recognised institutions, one of my last clients were Nasdaq where I executed the quality assurance for OTC Clearing Systems. In my former life I’ve always been a techie but never a hardcore programmer. I worked in finance because I understood complicated technology environments quickly and after working for companies like UBS and HSBC, you get pigeon holed and selected by other financial institutions to work on their projects

It was actually whilst working for Nasdaq, I came across Bitcoin whilst watching Max Keiser on the Keiser Report on RT. Max’s commentary on Bitcoin and Crypto currency in 2013 was contrary to the main stream news media and actually insightfully positive yet balanced. What I recall loving about Max’s commentary was how he started that ‘Bitcoin’ was decentralised money and helps remove improvised people and countries escape “interest rate apartheid “ and how bitcoin hedges you from “bankster charlatans”, so you can create a financial systems outside of corrupt oligarchs, Politicians and monopolies that control our money and value of it today. Max’s journalism really sparked my curiosity and research and I bought my first bitcoin in 2013. Big shout out to @max-kieser Max Kieser and Stacie Herbert, for your independent, non partisan education which makes me laugh.

Why I love Cryptocurrencies

Fast forward to today and recently only about three weeks ago, I decided to look at crypto currency seriously and spend more time learning about it and how I can create another business / revenue stream from it.

Since 2013 I bought a few bitcoins here and there, mainly as a store of value, I understood that over time it would hopefully increase, but I honestly saw it as a saving mechanism to help me save. I recall buying my first bitcoin from Localbitcoins.com for £300 - £400 back in the day.

Bitcoin History Chart.jpg

Bought my first bitcoins in 2013 for £300, almost a X10 return.

When recently I heard each bitcoin was worth £2200, it jolted my thinking that this is still a new emerging technology that none of the friends and family I know use and it’s market capital has increased exponentially but still not yet in numbers for mass adoption by the majority of the population.

I can honestly say that whilst I new there were other many other cryptocurrencies such as Dogecoin, Darkcoin, and Litecoin. I really didn’t fully understand the state of the coin market capitalisation and the amount of projects and initial coin offerings taking place. Honestly in May, I don’t even think I had heard of Ethereum.

However today looking at the spectrum of blockchain technology and crypto currencies it’s so exciting. It feels like we have a ringside seat and are witnessing the impact of the Internet 2.0, or living in the time that will reshape our entire existing fabric. In my opinion this shit is huge and I don’t think many of the future giants in the block chain are yet to emerge. I’m certain that blockchain technology will force governments to be more transparent. We are witnessing already increase speed of transaction at reduced costs.

Having checked up on Ethereum and Vitalik Buterin, they have so much potential, I like the community sprit around Vitalik and his promise of delivering decentralised automated smart contracts platform for other blockchain applications to run on, it’s pure genius. I’m excited how Veritaseum and Stratis will in there own unique and different ways revolutionise the world of finance and banking to say the very least, with there DAPPS.

I'll bet on Reggie Middleton and Veritaseum

Like everyone I have a Facebook account, but recently Facebook in my opinion feels like a necessary evil. In the early days I loved the idea of catching up with local and globally distributed friends. See there pictures, know what their upto and consume the information they wish to share but the privacy and surveillance aspect, restricts the amount of personal information I put up on social media platform, I don’t mind sharing amongst friends but we all know Facebook is an extension of the CIA or even non-USA governments surveillance and the data on this platform is used to profile you, to market to you and now more recently is sold to other 3rd party companies who we have no way of knowing who they are.

Facebook can't be trusted. However now is a new day with Steemit!! The power is coming back to the people.

(Was sup y’all. I hope your liking my intro? Please do leave constructive comments, whether negative or positive . I’m not really a writer, but want to give you my background. Walk with me :))

How did I get into Steemit

I think I first heard of Steemit from @CraigGrant and @CryptoNick. Shout out to you both. Your shows really helped me come up to speed on what’s going on in the Crypto market space. However, when I understood the concept of Steemit, I though it presented a revolutionary fresh approach to social media which is independent and completely decentralised. I loved it and appreciated it’s brilliance just in design. Plus with the added monetary benefit that the authors and writers and interactors of content get rewarded, it’s a complete winner!

Steem Train.png

Why I think Steemit is so special is it’s because it’s one of a handful of blockchain applications that is functional and usable right now. Yes, it’s in beta mode but we have the currency aspect and people are getting paid from their content right now. Big shout to the Steemit development team @ned @developers, thank you, stay focused. You have a beauty on your hands, which we appreciate, which will take off when the public gets wind of it.

Why now is a very exciting time us all

If your reading this, then your on the forefront of the waves in cryptocurrency and social media

Now is a very interesting business time for me because I know I will be financial successful in this space and really have a fondness for some of the emerging technologies, just like Steemit. After a week of exploring all the avenues and opportunities in this crypto space, I registered another company and now my third active company was recently registered, to focus on trading and investing in cryptocurrencies.

I’ve increased the amount of different coins I’ve invested in. Between 2013 and May 2017, I only held Bitcoins and a hand full of DarkCoin, which is now renamed and re-branded as Dash. But today I’ve invested more into Bitcoin, more Dash, Ethereum, ZCash, Stratis, Steem Monearo and Bitconnect. Not only buying or trading these altcoins but by investing into cloud mining with contracts under Genesis Mining.

For me and the Mrs @CryptoWitch will tell you cryptocurrency is exciting and one of the few things I get excited talking about. I’m the type to say if you don’t have anything constructive to say then don’t say anything.

However, I think others can benefit from my short yet relatively intermediate laser focus on cyptocurrencies and how they can be profitable. So if you guys show me love, then I’ll keep writing, when ever I have something informative to say. I think I can help by blogging or documenting my experiences in cryptocurrencies and blockchain investments with a unique detailed approach and how others can do the same if they wish.

As I read this back, I’ve mostly spoken about my experience in business and cryptocurrencies, however, once of my motivations is to be financial free, so I can travel and spend time in other countries and learning from different cultures.

Below are some of my favorite pictures from visiting foreign countries:
