introduceyourself: I'm Barto, an independent recording artist and software engineer living in between many passions

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Since being a little boy, I've always been driven by the belief, that life has more to offer than this obvious layer telling me that I was destined to live a boring, meaningless life although that was exactly what everyone wanted to make me believe.

I was shaped by an emotional childhood and youth with many ups and downs going from happy and super extroverted to depressed and introverted searching for shelter within music and excitement about new things to learn and discover.
Depressing periods have always been followed by inspiring changes. Escaping the lows, life always pushed me into something totally new, leaving behind my old me. I discovered new stuff that totally consumed me to a point, where the excitement of the new was gone and I moved on searching for new things to discover.

It felt like a flaw at first, because I thought I needed to stick to a few things or I'll inevitably end up in mediocrity.

It took me quite some time to accept that I'm simply interested in to many things to become happy just being a musician, a computer scientist, doing one sport, playing one instrument, deciding wheter being a musician, a composer or a producer.
I enjoyed doing all those things on my own even tho I always knew I wouldn't be able to master everything.

Working out in the gym taught me the growth mindset and helped me gain back my self-confidence. I always felt week and vulnerable and I was able to change that to honest appreciation for being myself in every aspect. Training my body and mind has become a substantial part of my life since then.

The other thing that always sticked around was music. I spent hours in the basement recording the crap out of my shitty mic and my old PC running Audacity. I recorded hundreds of little tracks and had a blast not knowing how to do things properly.
As weird as it sounds but that approach became my special incredient. It felt like I gained my creativity from the simple fact of doing things in my own way because I had no idea how others conquered the same problems.
I always did what felt right without any knowledge of music theory at all.
I try to stick to that approach while trying to learn new techniques to improve my recordings.

After 5 years I decided to get better equipment and started learning about professionell music production and uploaded my first tracks under the moniker BartoRec on Soundcloud.

Little me with the big head

One day I met a skilled lyricist from San Diego after writing him a comment on his empty comment wall of his new track.
We quickly became good friends on such a deep level after writing hundreds of messages about our life and the dream of creating our unique vision of music. We decided to make a track together even tho I never had made Hip-Hop music before. It went so well that we couldn't stop making new tracks and ended up making a whole album together with Matts best 3 lyricist buddies and two feature tracks together with the super talented Canadian singer Bonnie Rabson. From the day we started that project, I woke up destined every morning with the feeling of playing a role in a big movie. My life suddenly had a direction and I saw the fruits of believing in my music after all those years. And the best thing was finally sharing my passion with others.

Using that momentum I started pushing my solo indie project from ether as well, and it was so exciting to see one of my tracks getting into the worldwide Soundcloud indie charts for the first time. Especially because I finally had the courage to release tracks with my own vocals even tho I didn't consider myself being a good singer at all.

My first track that made it in the Soundcloud indie charts

My whole life I was taught a fixed mindset of being good right from the start or accept being bad -
But I learned about a different truth that became my holy grail. I discovered the possibility to radically change my mind and become whoever I want to be, simply by learning, doing and believing.
Since I discovered that marvel, I'm trying to share that mindset with others to enable them utilizing that knowledge and discover that excitement and outgrow that boring trapped mindset of being born into your role.

Slowly I understood that my versatility gained from my experience doing so many different things has become my strength and wasn't a flaw at all. I'm trying to incorporate everything I learned and value, to create the most interesting and creative things I possibly can.
I never experienced a better feeling than creating and sharing this feeling with others and especially working together with other creative people from all around the globe.

I'm happy to have the ultimate freedom of making the music I always envisioned, without thinking about money. I earn my money with writing code and being a software consultant. It's always been a cool job but I'm literally on fire since I discovered decentralised technologies like Bitcoin and Ethereum and their underlying economic possibilities.
I try to learn as much as possible about it and educate the people around me to help them understand and utilize these new technologies.

Since it totally changed my life reading books from such smart and experienced people from all around the world, I want to share my thoughts and experiences as well to hopefully help and inspire others.
We can't chose family, where and how we are born and who educates us in our early life. But the internet age connected us to intelligence from the smartest people on this planet. This is the golden ticket enabling ourselves to shape our mind and gain a happy and successful life.

I'm happy to be here at this time able to share what I consider worth sharing and I hope that you'll follow me and my stories and might find value in them for yourself.

I would love and value getting into contact with you in the comment section! :)

Seems like @dsound will be quite a cool thing for you Barto - check it out ;) Resteeming you for some publicity, greets man!

Oh wow had no idea that exists! Definitely a place for me I'll check it out. Always thought a combination of Steemit and Soundcloud would be so cool.

Just posted my first track on DSound! https://dsound.audio/#!/@fromether/20180617t120000880z-from-ether-rain
Thanks again for the hint.

Welcome to steemit @fromether how are you? And how many times do you work out every week? =)

Hi purepinay :). I'm great thank you! Hope you're doing great as well? 3 times a week. But I always have setbacks where I can't keep up with that cycle but I always get back to it. So 3 times a week but at busy times it's mostly 2 times in average. At times where I can't train I have more time for my other passions. I like to dynamically shift and adjust my focus.

Welcome to Steemit @fromether!

I wish you much success and hope you find Steemit to be as rewarding and informative as I have.
