Why I am here
I’ve been thinking about how to start this self-introduction.
Usually, this is how I introduce myself.
I am a New York based artist born in Taiwan. I mainly work in installation, sculpture, photography. I am interested in the similarity and difference among people and cultures. My art practice explores the formation and fluctuation of individual identity in a society. And then with more details of some of my work.
But, instead of telling more about who I am, which I will in future posts, I want to share a special moment I had with a friend.
“I think it might be beneficial to you.” he said. “You can get exposure and potentially make some money.”
It got my attention very well. The keywords, “Exposure” and “money”
Then he started to share a lot about what steemit is, what his findings and experience of using steemit is, how to get people to view and rate my posts, saying that he could help me to get exposure, what bitcoins is and many more. He shared them enthusiastically. However, in the end, I wasn’t listening to what he was saying. I just felt touched.
This site and appreciation about what he said has always been in the back of my mind since then. Just I wasn’t fully ready to spend time on blogging about myself, my life and my work.
It is his good intention and care that makes me want to do something, to start to share more about my artworks on a different platform. I was and still am moved by his care about my art career. It’s a very heartwarming experience to have a friend who cares to such a degree.
Having been living in New York, sometimes, it’s hard to take things too seriously. People come and go constantly. Hard to get to really know a person or make a close friend. Also, It’s easy to get spoiled by an overwhelming amount of things happening here. Gradually, not committing becomes a new norm. It’s like on Facebook: just click “Interested”, mark the events, save one more option, and decide whether to do it or not later.
Finally, after a long while, I decided to start writing. I would like to tribute my very first post to this special friend, @eonwarped. I feel very fortunate to have a friend like him. A sincere, honest and caring friend.
