Hello from Argentina!

Hello all! I’m new to Steemit and I wanted to introduce myself. I stumbled upon this site while reading an article about Autism and vaccinations, started looking around and liked what I was seeing. I love the idea of being able to share and talk about things that I love, while engaging with others about things big and small!

I have so many interests that my social media is a pretty random mix of pictures of my family, mom jokes, political posts, and the occasional selfie of course. I also like to write about random things, whatever is on my mind really, so I think the ability to do so on one site with such a great mix of content is pretty brilliant.

I have a personal blog where I write about my travels around the world, my family, share recipes, all pretty random, but I’m definitely looking forward to sharing and interacting with more people outside of the basketball community (more on that in a sec). I’m also interested in learning more about cryptocurrency because I truly believe it’s the future.

So a bit about me: I was born in Finland, but raised in my favorite city of all time, New York City.

I’m an attorney by trade, but am on the tail end of a 10 year break! I had a two year stint at a corporate firm in NYC, but it wasn’t for me, so I left to travel the world and I'll get back to the law when I'm ready, and on my own terms.

My greatest accomplishment was graduating law school with a 1 yr old

My husband is a professional basketball player overseas, so we have spent the last 10 years living in Italy, Greece, Germany, Venezuela, Turkey, Belgium, and now, Argentina.

We have 4 kiddies 11 and under, and our lovable, yet crazy, mini dachshund, Rico (I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the love of my life, Bella, our former mini dachshund who came to us in Germany, but was kidnapped in Argentina, and subsequently died after surgery. She was a big part of our family, and Rico was gifted to us in Argentina after our loss).

So we are what you would call an expat family, and we love being able to raise our kids around so many different cultures, despite challenges like language barriers, and the difficulty of adapting. School probably being the biggest struggle in Argentina, as it is only 3-4 hours a day, and is taught in Spanish of course. The seasons are also reversed, so when it’s winter in the US, it’s summer out here. As such, summer break is from December until March so I spend the majority of those months homeschooling, while I homeschool part time during the rest of the year. I used to think I wasn't very patient, but after teaching 4 kids all day, I'm just about as patient as it comes (wine helps!)

In my little bit of free time, I run (mostly to stay in shape, but sometimes to remind myself of my college athlete days). I also blog when something interesting comes to mind, and I spend many hours enjoying the plethora of malbec that Argentina has to offer. So that’s me in a nut shell, a smorgasbord of randomness. Here are some pics that pretty much sum me up.

I cook a lot, and try to learn new recipes from each country that we're in. Empanadas and pickled eggplant are my favs from Argentina.

One would think we were preparing for a party, but no, we just love fresh fruit and wine (and wine is always on sale out here!)

This is a collection of the funniest pics of me from games during this past season. I swear I'm a really nice person, but they always catch me looking so mean!

We love when we get to take visitors around. This time it was my mom, who has traveled to almost every place we've lived.

We spend our summers in NYC, so this is a normal weekend morning for us (minus the hubby who was probably sleeping, and my 11 yr old who was taking the pic)

Thanks for reading and I'm excited to continue looking around and exploring!

Side note: tried to upload a profile pic using imgur a few times and it doesn't seem to appear in my profile, so can anyone shed any light?

We're glad to have you! Curious what a "mom joke" is :)

Thank you! Well most of my mom jokes seem to revolve around my constant need for coffee and wine, as a result of being a mom lol
