What's the Difference Between Korean Culture and Chinese Culture?

in #kr7 years ago

Politically they (Korean and Chinese culture) are very different. China does not really have free internet, they seem to build some censorship about this. South Korea, meanwhile, is a democracy, quite politically open but censoring goods from North Korea. North Korea is known to be very closed and has no internet network that can be freely accessible, only for government use. It certainly affects a culture.

Judging from the food, it is also very different. For example Zhajiangmian (Chinese) and Jajangmyeon (South Korea) food menus. At a glance from the appearance and the way of pronunciation, these two noodles do not look any different at all. Actually, no difference is too significant. Because jajangmyeon from South Korea itself is a food that is adapted from zhajiangmian from China. Or to say, jajangmyeon is the Korean version of his zhajiangmian. In terms of appearance and materials are not much different. Both of these noodles are served with black soy beans and vegetables such as carrots and cucumbers, sometimes with extra cuts of meat or seafood.

The entertainment world is also different. Kpop, Kdramas, boyband like BTS, all of it belongs only to Koreans. Chinese stories or dramas have not been properly translated to the West, for any reason. Restoring memories at a time when Korea had the Three Kingdoms, Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla, at that time China invaded. They fought with a group of Tang dynasty wars having control over Korea at a certain point, but then the Koreans reclaimed their land. So there is some overlapping culture because they are like being next to each other and attacking each other. Chinese philosophers do affect Korea, Buddhism influences Korea.

Koreans seem more docile to be Korean than Chinese to Chinese. It is about racism among Koreans who seem to be higher in respecting their greatness and racial superiority. If compared with the Chinese. Perhaps there are often racist Chinese, but they will not say 'China is the best. But I am proud because I am Chinese '. This is different from Korean people who consider 'Korea is the best'.

The high pride of homogenous culture in South Korea is one of the triggers of racism for other ethnicity who enter the country as workers or those who marry South Korean men or women. In a survey conducted by the Seoul Institute revealed that the discrimination of foreign nationals is based on nationality, appearance, and education. About 94.5 percent of 2,500 foreigners said they had experienced discrimination in Seoul, South Korea.

Woff, woff!

Hello @heery97, We have met 4 times already!

I'm a guide dog living in KR community. I can see that you want to contribute to KR community and communicate with other Korean Steemians. I really appreciate it and I'd be more than happy to help.

KR tag is used mainly by Koreans, but we give warm welcome to anyone who wish to use it. I'm here to give you some advice so that your post can be viewed by many more Koreans. I'm a guide dog after all and that's what I do!

Tips:

  • If you're not comfortable to write in Korean, I highly recommend you write your post in English rather than using Google Translate.
Unfortunately, Google Translate is terrible at translating English into Korean. You may think you wrote in perfect Korean, but what KR Steemians read is gibberish. Sorry, even Koreans can't understand your post written in Google-Translated Korean.
  • So, here's what might happen afterward. Your Google-Translated post might be mistaken as a spam so that whales could downvote your post. Yikes! I hope that wouldn't happen to you.
  • If your post is not relevant to Korea, not even vaguely, but you still use KR tag, Whales could think it as a spam and downvote your post. Double yikes!
  • If your post is somebody else's work(that is, plagiarism), then you'll definitely get downvotes.
  • If you keep abusing tags, you may be considered as a spammer. It may result to put you into the blacklist. Oops!

I sincerely hope that you enjoy Steemit without getting downvotes. Because Steemit is a wonderful place. See? Korean Steemians are kind enough to raise a guide dog(that's me) to help you!

Woff, woff! 🐶
