Constructed Landscapes
These photographs are actually fictional, and contain several different moments in time merged into a single frame.
The process of making these involved photographing a scene on a tripod, and simply waiting for things to happen in the frame. Any person who walked through the image was photographed, all changes in light and shadow were photographed, basically, any variable was recorded.
When I finished shooting, I went back to my studio with about 300-500 different frames of the same scene, and I worked to composite different moments together that I felt would work well to create a larger narrative.
I spent about 4 years making this kind of work, and have since abandoned the process to focus on other projects. But I have many of these images, and I figure I will post them from time to time. I'm new to Steemit (my first day!) and I hope to get a chance to get involved in the photography community here.
In addition to picture making, I am a photography writer, critic, and publisher. I love giving feedback and advice on photographs and projects (I actually make my living from doing so, and over the past two years I have reviewed the work of over 2000 photographers [for real!])
So I figure I'd try Steemit to see how it goes. I hope I can be a resource for developing photographers to hone their craft, and I'm happy to critique images and projects on request.
Nice to meet you!
