RE: What I Learned from Living on the Street for 5 Days

in #life7 years ago (edited)

This is an interesting thing to do but it can't actually mimic the feeling of having no home because in your mind you still have a home. Living this life is brutal I know my son is an addict and is living it we have actually been unable to keep him in housing because of his behaviour. Having no base from which to be a part of society means it is impossible to have meaningful relationships with family and it is heartbreaking. People who are addicts on the street have no spare time because they spend every minute collecting money and then searching for the next fix. All of their relationships are based on the money and the drugs they can get out of people. This is the reality.

Totally agree with you. The life of an addict is tough. We never pretended to be real homeless. Nevertheless it was a life-changing experience for us!
